I've recently discovered I missed 3 friendly games Charlton played in May 1942, just after the end of the War league season.
I will be posting those games soon in the correct chronological order.
When all three are posted I will add a link to the 1942 post in this message.
UPDATE:
All three friendly games now posted
They are the last three reports from the five match post at the top of page 27 ... Season 1941-42 London League (part 12) Unfortunately I cannot create a working link at the moment - will try again later.
These friendlies against Crystal Palace & Millwall are quite obscure, and no complete team lists could be found for any of them.
But they are part of Charlton's Wartime history.
I've just added another previously 'missed' Friendly match at the end of the War years; Charlton Athletic v Millwall on 21st May 1945.
A celebration match put on a couple of weeks after VE Day.
The report on this match can be found as the 4th part of the top post on page 29 (season 1944-45 part 12).
I'm struggling with working links at present, but I'm sure all members who wish to view it will find the relevant post.
My current home PC (less than a year old) is on the fritz
I've blown the dust of my old one, but it doesn't have many recent files on it.
This means there might be a delay of a few days until I can continue with my historical match posts.
I do back up regularly onto an external drive, so I'm hoping to get up to speed again soon.
Was almost finished on the next game (home against Blackpool on December 21 1946)
But I might have to begin that file again from scratch.
EDIT:
PC up and running again, I'm hoping it's stable but only time will tell.
Think I'll do a back-up every day for a while rather than my usual once a fortnight
Blackpool game posted this morning (see above).
