I always thought he was one of our classy players and althouugh years have passed I think he would be a valuable asset, not only for playing time but mentoring some of the young guns. We need domineering players in our mid-field and here is one of many players on the auction block with experience beyond the Championship that could go cheaply. You can't beat having a couple of experienced players in your squad as they are capable of captaincy and leadership and I reckon there will many looking elsewhere in a few weeks.
 
There’s a lot riding on his appointment and that of the Head Coach/Manager

If Ellis has the vision to see what we’re obviously lacking, and the owners have the money for us to get better players and give it a go next season then that’s great

But our track record in doing the right things at the right time, and really having a go is very poor

I agree.
But will his budget constraint put on him by SL/JL rend his expertise wasted.
Football in every league is guided by money 99% of the time and if we're not prepared to spend more then we look forward again to mid table, at best.

We ALWAYS do this.
We’ve known we needed a new manager/Head Coach since Struber left - and he STILL hasnt been appointed - yet someone upstairs has decided on who makes the retained list.
Maybe the new manager should have had a say?
I’ve said this ever since the Cottrill days: the manager has very little or no say in who is signed/retained. He just has to work with what he’s given by the suits - that included LJ.

Going to be Tommy Elphic. Probably won’t be announced till after Bournemouth’s final game on Sunday.(it’s all over OTIB been rumoured for a while)

The squad list and recruitment will be down to Ellis, plus all clubs have to have announced the retain list, by last Saturday to the EFL. Just think we are late showing it to the public.
