The game is to make up a very random Christmas story (to fit in one post) and the best one wins. Only ONE story per person please. The results will be after the new year. My story is: One very hot and snowy winters morning, Santa claus was waking up from his hangover, why a naked man was beside him, he didnt know because he had no idea what happened the night before. Then Cher Lloyd gave him a present marked osama bin Laden. Santa didnt know why she gave him osamas present because he'd asked for burnt mouldy wotsits. David cameron came in and gave burnt ,mouldy quavers instead so santa fed him to the Labour party. The End<cracker>

You know there was a time this used to be a watford football club discussion forum I have asked the sites admin to create a sitewide games area similar to other forums!

I'm with Norway. There are too many of these now. Two or three on the go are fine, but we're creating two or three new ones a week nowadays.

We've got about 5-6 games on at the moment, which, having glanced around some other clubs' sites, is admittedly, a lot. But then our site has always been more varied than others, and richer as a result, we've also had more political threads than other clubs. I like to see a balance between Watford F.C. related texts, general football ones, debates, games and general chat - it's what makes our site unique. The games will presumably start thinning out after New Year at the latest - so, what's the problem ?

I dont think they will cologne , cologne they are all going great guns still , However IMO their should be a limit on how many or a set length of time ! But thats just my thoughts , Like I said before what with stickied items and all the games a half decent article goes off the first page in 2 days , some of us who dont post regurlarly might miss them !
Upto you guys to decide what you want though , its your board !

As you say Norway, it is a public forum and therefore has its own dynamic at times. Maybe the problem is that most of the games on here are in the form of one word posts and are thus very quick and easy to answer - and will continue until enough people get bored. If you look at other clubs' sites you will see few of these types of thread, but also no 'Health and Fitness`thread either, no Chess League thread and few of the semi- political threads which we have had in the past. Ours is more varied, and I for one am thankfull for that, because, although I read Watford F.C. posts avidly to find out more of what is going on behind the scenes from those of us who are still locals, I can personally contribute less to those types of thread because I have not lived in England for the last 20 years and get to no more than maybe 4 games per season.

I am guilty of playing many of the games but even I feel we don't need another one<grr> I even invite the MODs to close down the Word association game perhaps to be opened up at another time! Should we have a vote!!!!!!???!!! Only joking no vote, please feel free to lock out my game though;)

AFTER ALL IT IS ALMOST TRANSFER WINDOW TIME AND ALL THE RUMOURS THAT GO WITH IT;);)

    Very well said Al

Cologne I have been away for 6 yrs and 4 games a season is a high for me ! and I am guilty for playing the games initially, However at the end of the day it is a football forum, and as Al stated we are getting too many now imo and soon the rumour season will be on us ,you never know we may need some space for threads purporting good news!! The games have their place in times like close season , even to keep a couple going now! I have tried to move them to a group but it doesnt work ! Nor does a couple of other ideas that were given from other clubs mods ! So I do think a limit on how many or how long they run is needed. I would be grateful on any input on how to manage this to please most people:)

Is it not possible to reduce the number by taking a vote on eg. which 2 or 3 to keep. The game which I started can be closed without problem.

Thanks Cologne , as I said to Al I dont want to lock anything till we have more opinion If you wish a vote you can start one , although I am sure most game players will find their way to this thread and can leave opinions here , one of our number may come up with an ingenious solution that could serve:) One of our more IT people that could weave some magic !

I think we should just lock them all but the song game, the word association and the story as they are the most popular and have the most posts to views. The issue we have is those who just pop in for a quick check are confronted with several threads at the top which are of no interest and they have to scroll down through them to find the good stuff.

Is there not a way of combining the three single word answer games into one new thread ?

Like i've said to you Norway, we can ask Mick to give us a sub forum, like that on GC, which can have our off topic threads. I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing it..what possible reason could there be. Meanwhile, as Al requested, i've locked the thead, but i don't think, on an open forum, we should be stopping people posting what they want to post, and restrict people from playing games if that's what they enjoy doing. So, a sub forum seems the answer to me, which keeps everyone happy.

I would just leave them, they live or die by people contributing or not...my boredom threshold has been reached on some of them, so I ignore them.
