Hull fan. Wouldn’t have minded who we played tbh as long as it’s Saturday, probably got more chance against boro. By spying you were trying to take boro’s chance of promotion and £200 million away from them so therefore you are fairly being removed of the chance to get promotion and win £200 million. Also, you haven’t just spied on three teams because why on earth would you choose Oxford!!! You’ve decided to admit spying on Ipswich because they’ve gone up don’t doesn’t really matter and Oxford because you lost. Just trying to say to the efl that spying didn’t aid you in anyway but your covering up many more. At best you’ll get the points deduction removed but by appealing it’s giving the efl more chance of increasing the punishment if you’re further found guilty. And your manager should get a long long ban

Do you have this much issue with players "cheating" the ref in a game to win a penalty that sends Hull up, for instance? Should Hull be kicked out afterwards for cheating the other team out of £200 million? Should the final be replayed? Should the player be banned from football for 6 months? All teams cheat, even yours, to gain an advantage. That's modern football for you unfortunately.

Is it? We have blatantly cheated (badly)with the sole aim of getting promoted. The punishment is to not allow us to get promoted. Sounds about right to me. The galling thing is that all the other infringements in football never seem to get the punishment they deserve.

But it still doesn't have an affect on whether someone rifles in a 30 yard shot or not. How can you quantify it?

Yep agree on both fronts here.

I can defo see Solak thinking about this. Their saving grace is there are no games soon for fans to put up the pitch forks, so the noise will have died out a little by the time next season arrives.

I can still see a huge reduction is season ticket sales though and other knock on effects from all this.

That said, I still think we will look to sue the EFL over this. Mainly around due process want followed in that we didn’t have the full 14 days for this and the punishment being far to excessive.

It could cause the EFL huge issues on their ability to function if we sued and won.
I do not think we will sue the EPL. Too much to risk. If we go along that route, they will look to increase the points deductions. It will open up a can of worms and I can see other clubs submitting claims against us. The points deduction is fair for spying on three teams. If other clubs come forward, I am sure that the EPL would look to increase the deduction and I am sure that this has already been mooted to head off an appeal. I think tomorrow we will learn who amongst the coaching staff / management is likely to be censured.

In the circumstances, I am not sure what other redress Boro could have other than to be reinstated. It would have been fairer to give Hull the bye. I am shocked that we have resorted to spying and wonder how teams like Wrexham, Derby and Oxford who could have been affected by the results would react. Having bought our tickets for Wembley, we are both gutted. Missing out on a big day in London is as crushing as knowing that the excellent results we experienced were not attained fairly.

We broke the rules and got caught and so opened up the chance of this happening so i'm more angry with whoever is behind it than the EFL.
I honestly think that we would've been in the play-offs without cheating as we have one of the best squads in the league so it makes things even more frustrating for me.

No they won’t. They can’t increase the points penalty for next season.

The EFL let two games to be played in-between the charges against us. They had every opportunity to postpone the matches and expedite a hearing. You can't think its fair to kick Southampton out of the playoff final...and reinstate a team that lost over 210 minutes of football. The EFL have also dropped a clanger in all of this.

You’re arguing with Ian. You’ve already lost <laugh>
