Norway also spread the industry around the costal towns and cities. I was in Bergen in 1975 and they told us that the wharf we were docked on was built for service vessels for the oil rigs. I think it is now a cruise ship berth.

We had a surplus of oil. Maybe not the right oil for everything. Our oil is easier to extract than Venezuela which is bound in clay soils and yet we let our production bases rot.

Build gas fired power stations and then import gas instead of using what we have on and off shore. It’s bollocks.

Allowing a hugely valuable national asset to be bought by private companies for them to make a huge profit, instead of using it and making the nation a huge profit instead was, indeed, bollocks.

Anyone else noticed the search function on here seems to be a bit behind the times? Was looking for when I used the word Wembley which I'm sure I have in the past week or so but the search function comes up with a year ago as my most recent use.
