The Book of Job basically says that the Biblical God does not always act on a system of good=reward and evil=punish (indeed it has God telling off Job's friends for saying the bad things that have happened to Job are due to sin) and that things happen for various reasons, such as God having a bet with Satan about whether or not a person will curse God if bad things happen to him/her
Both the same in this context, certainly not me 'changing boundaries' Your initial question was why do bad things happen to good people, I answered it Then you asked if you do all good will anything happen to you (post 22) I didnt really answer that one, so you came back with are you immune to suffering if you are all good I gave you a direct answer You then asked me about every devout person through out history and changed suffering to a variety of words , to which I gave you an honest answer You then went onto saints and martyrs I answered this directly, questioning the view of 'suffering', giving th eexample of losing a loved one You then asked me if I knew anyone who has suffered pain Again a direct response from me, and I asked for you to define suffering/pain. To which you said try a dictionary, although i was specifically looking for your definition To this I responded that pain and suffering were different and suggested you look in a dictionary you then suggested they were synonyms and described that as being similar As pointed out synonym means the same nt similar, you then said they do in some contexts not all we could have avoided it all if you had simply told me your definitions of them, to me they are not synonyms as they have different connotations. Hence god protects them. Then you changed to 'they do suffer but deal with it better'. So the fact they are pious doesn't make god treat them better after all. If a baby dies then of course parents feel pain, yet if they believe that babies not only go to heaven but can say to god that he deprived him of parental love on earth so dont do the same now in the afterlife, then there is not only solace but hope etc too. Again, that doesnt explain why the devout aren't spared problems. Which you can't do. so now 'suffering' and 'pain' has become 'problems'? make your mind up then come back There are certain notions that even those who follow a religion have forgotten. The man with a painful foot thinks he has it bad until he sees the man with no legs how many people when in a crisis have true faith in god? how many leave it in his hands to take care of it? The problem these days is people think they can sit up on 1 night pray and it will be answered. often you dont even know whats benefitting you, the devout dont see things as being a problem only those who are weak do
