I think they should promote us and Boro. To make the numbers right relegate a team alphabetically between H and M. Which would be…oh, Leeds…
If Boro play us in the Final and Boro win, there would be no doubt that there would be further legal implications and Acun would fight tooth and nailLast thing that should happen is Boro take their place, they lost two legs of football and any team they spied on could make a case against them. Play the match or promote us. Only two options.
Yep. As I've been saying all along. It can't be any other way. They have to be expelled from the play offs. Anything less is a cop out.Apologies if this has already been posted as haven’t been keeping up the last few hours, but I found this fascinating. A legal view from sports lawyers on why Southampton should be expelled from the play offs, looking at previous precedents and dissecting the language in the 25/26 Swindon case, which is probably the closest parallel. https://www.stewartslaw.com/news/sp...-v-middlesbrough-play-off-spying-allegations/
They wouldn't win an appeal. No chance.Play the match and take it from there. If Southampton are disqualified and we go up automatically, then they appeal and win that, then what? And bringing Boro back in just messes things up even more.
How can they appeal when are pleading guilty to the chargesPlay the match and take it from there. If Southampton are disqualified and we go up automatically, then they appeal and win that, then what? And bringing Boro back in just messes things up even more.
if we do play saints start on -3 goals...Last thing that should happen is Boro take their place, they lost two legs of football and any team they spied on could make a case against them. Play the match or promote us. Only two options.
Didn't know they were in all honesty. In that case my original prediction stands. Boro back in and game moved to midweek. How can they appeal when are pleading guilty to the charges
I don't think there would be and I don't think he would. If Boro play us in the Final and Boro win, there would be no doubt that there would be further legal implications and Acun would fight tooth and nail
And what happens if Boro win the final?Didn't know they were in all honesty. In that case my original prediction stands. Boro back in and game moved to midweek.
Boro lost the second leg that wasn't spied on. How do they deserve to be in the final?I don't think there would be and I don't think he would.
Theres a logic and a sense of fairness to Boro being reinstated.....but.....on the flip side, it seems clear that it's not just Boro that have been cheated by Southampton and the EFL can't repair that damage to those other clubs....so the only practical outcome is expulsion + further penalties for Southampton and us promoted.
It's as clear as day to my mind, but I still think the EFL will bottle it.
Fair point actuallyBoro lost the second leg that wasn't spied on. How do they deserve to be in the final?
They can appeal against the punishment. How can they appeal when are pleading guilty to the charges
Exactly and if Boro had of put a couple of their chances in the back of the net in the 1st leg at home this spying charge would have been kicked into the long grass and probably forgotten about. So someone spied on another team?? Is it such a big deal? Would it even have been a problem if Boro had won? Fine them, warn them and move on FFS.Boro lost the second leg that wasn't spied on. How do they deserve to be in the final?
Maybe appealing against the severity of the punishment rather than disputing their guilt. They wouldn't win an appeal. No chance.
