Anyone else think this spy gate thing is being massively blown out of proportion? I very much doubt the footage would have a huge impact on the result. A warning and a fine would surely be the most sensible and appropriate punishment? Nothing to see here move on, let’s get on with beating them.

I think so, but the waters are muddied by FIFA themselves dishing out a 6 point deduction and one year bans for exactly the same offence, albeit that time before a tournament rather than right at the very closing stage.

I think a points deduction would be the obvious route mid season but how do you dish out a sporting sanction 1 week before the playoff final?

Last time against Sheff Massive, I accidently booked a seat in the Club Wembley area, I didn't realise I had got a seat in there. It was a real surprise when I rocked up in there and saw all the food concessions and bars.

I might have a dabble for that area again.
You couldn't tell from how much you paid?!

As for me, I've booked tickets at Club Wembley on the Diamond package. Coudn't take the risk. So I'm sorted I think - just waiting for the receipt for payment from Wembley but looks ok so far.

However....., I'm at a conference in Central America next week and have now arranged to leave early to be able to fly to London arriving next Friday. Luckily there are loads of seats available on flights and rooms at the usual hotel I stay at in London - so I haven't actually re-booked yet. If the ****ing match is postponed a week that ****s me up a bit as the Missus won't be happy given we had plans the following weekend (its my birthday that weekend, so on the other hand **** that I'm still coming across if it is moved a week). Thing is where will it be played with the Rugby and Women's FA Cup final being that weekend at Wembley?

Its a total utter **** up and Southampton can go **** themselves sideways with a ten foot bargepole.

The only place in Wembley I’ve never been. I’m guessing the concourse is a lot better than upper and lower tiers?

You can't buy Club Wembley seats from the club can you ?

I’ll try to be as polite as possible here but why are you on our board, mate? Are you trying to elicit some sympathy for the plight of Southampton fans in this situation? You’re not the victims here. The conduct of your club, its coaching staff, analysts, players, supporters and even ball boys has been abhorrent throughout this sordid affair. Your actions have had a negative impact on two fellow clubs in the play-offs, not to mention potentially impacting other clubs in the league during the regular season. A lot of you think it’s hilarious banter and ****housery too.

No offence but I wouldn’t dare show my face on another club’s forum if my club did something similar.

You are clearly a big girl's blouse with no sense of humour, so probably best you do hide your 'orrible norvern monkey face from the world <ok>

It's the 21st century with drones and cameras that can see for miles. If clubs want to keep training secret then train inside, though even that has risks. The EFL/FA ****ed up by making spying illegal. It can't be stopped and they opened this can of worms.
and they'll still run the risk of getting caught spying and having the book thrown at them. The risk might be reduced if it's drones or cameras from out of sight (actually, how would that work :emoticon-0112-wonde ) but there would still be a risk of being found out, dobbed in, or whatever. The rule and the penalty still needs to be there.

Drones are so obvious, clear to see and easy to hear. But unless you caught someone in the act of flying it, which if the operator had half a brain would be nigh on impossible, it would be impossible to prove who it was. Could open a whole can of worms, false flag attempts etc.

Spot on. Of course if (when) we beat them the haters will no doubt be saying the EFL fixed it for us to win and the referee was told to go soft on us etc etc etc.
Bit like when I got back from the 2008 Play Off win over Bristol City, some wag waddled across to our table in Tigers Lair and said 'You were lucky'
Lucky? yeah, we get lucky every 104 years.
Every season you get some little drama from the clubs that just miss out on promotion or a Play Off place. All praying that they are a special case and are allowed a second chance because the lights failed or they used the wrong ball, they played someone who was not registered, they spied on us, the ball didn't cross the line, or some illegal payment made months ago and so on.
Like the ball was out of play when Arsenal knocked us out of the FA Cup in the semis in 1930, or their equaliser in the Final against us in 2014 should have been a goal kick to us and not a corner, or Stokes first goal against us in the Cup, in 70/71 came from a throw in that should have been ours............it's football, 5hit happens and the sun rises in the morning as usual.

If global affairs carry on as they are you can’t rule out the sun rising at 2am…

That would be useful to know for those who fancy an all nighter on the piss, too tight to pay a hotel, missed the last train home.
Delete as appropriate.

Back when national express used to be dirt cheap a mate of mine used to catch the late night one down to Heathrow after a night out, sleep on the bus journey there and go back home on the bus in the morning. Half the price of a taxi <laugh>

Could do something similar to some random place then cheap train home next morning, still be a lot cheaper than a hotel.

Managed for years without a rule and I presume spying had been going on.

It was the media and social media over the Leeds incident that brought a knee jerk reaction of bringing in a law but not clearly defining the punishments.

An independent commission now decide the punishment
