VAR again means they have to re-write the rules for an entire sport which was once simple and is 99.999% played without VAR. There’s always been some grappling at corners but then VAR would find a grapple it considered a bit much so you’d get a penalty and then an argument for a penalty at just about every corner. So the rule is tweaked to say you can basically do what you want if you aren’t near the ball. Except then Mavropanos would have been near the ball if he wasn’t fouled at least as obviously as Raya was. So you basically get a subjective decision to make to decide if another subjective decision needs looking at. Except it’s subjective whether you should be looking at the first subjective decision at all.
