If we were promoted, clearly we would need virtually a new team. We would likely pay worst wages in the premiership and I would say smallest transfer fees if any. So what would we end up with only another bunch of loanees and journeymen. No way bates would sanction spending of real money even in the premiership so wed be completely out of our depth there

Yeah because you can't wait around in the championship forever and doing so another season will probably see us lose Snodgrass. You go up get all the benefit from TV revenue, extend players contracts such as White and Howson, get some of the fans back and if you go down you benefit from parachute payments meaning we would be considered as one of the favourites to get up.

    Yes.

40m in TV money. More fans. Better atmospheres. More entertainment. If relegated, parachute payments.

Only reason I wouldn't want us to go up is the ticket prices, but when there's a will there's a way.

Just depends on where the 40m ends up 18, Monaco or on the team

    Hence my first comment.

Bates won't spend megabucks, we all know that, but we would be a more attractive proposition should Papa want to sell whilst we were in the prem,
gotta get there first though <wah>

Only benefit i see is the parachute payments because as it stands we would be butchered in the PL. we may hold our own for a few months but couple of injuries and game over.... Jesus i'm becoming cycnical... i'm gonna blame Bates... Why not?

Exactly my point. And where do think the parachute payments would vanish to? Certainly not into any ikind of meaningful investment in Leeds United

I think we would fair okay in the premiership our squad is as good as Norwich n they are doing okay!

The lower teams are shocking we could beat all them

You obviously spent a long time on your reply. Can you elaborate. We weren't as good as Norwich last season, fact, because they were promoted. They are better this season fact. They are holding their own in Premiership having strengthened squad. We've lost Gradel and replaced with Pugh. Were weaker and anyone but the blind can see that

Bates could sell the club if the price was realistic look at Portsmouth how many times thats been sold and we have by far some attractive reasons why you could invest one big city one club for a start

All the attraction is taken away when they realise they have to do a deal with Ken Bates

We've also essentially gained Clayton, Keogh, White and Lees. I would take Mad Max back in a flash, but overall the squad is stronger and better balanced than last year.

Q: Would there be any point in winning promotion?
A: Yes. It takes us back to where we belong. It gives the players that got us there the opportunity to prove themselves against better oppositions. It gives Papa Smurf the opportunity show, beyond reasonable doubt, that he always had the club's best interests at heart, & that he could now either sell to someone with serious money or fund players to strengthen the squad in those areas where SG feels we are lacking.
