    Use your own measure of piety then. Have you ever known someone who you would consider pious and devout who has never experienced pain? And I don't mean 'has suffered pain but dealt with it better due to his faith'.

    Every one experiences pain of some sort or another

    We seem to be changing the boundaries now.

    It would help if you define what you are talking about in terms of suffering/pain
