Rush...no bleating. You're onto context and language barriers...as close-minded as the kangaroo court itself. It was as derogatory as Evra's comment in Spanish....you know something else?

No I'm saying let them present the evidence and then decide.

There has been very few United fans on here, even since the verdict that have come out saying 'Suarez is racist'.

I think we all want to see the evidence.

Eeeerrrmmm no but it is the verdict of those who did have the evidence, therefore it's the the evidence that some people will base their opinion on.

    Hope this helps <ok>

Agreed then King, Rus, et al. I'm an evidence-based sort of a guy.

This obvs smacks of scapegoating then. Passed sentence. Why not sooner? Where is the explanation?

Exactly. The minute he admitted it he was going to get ****ed over. If he had denied it it would of been thrown out, school boy error <laugh>

If admitting the accusation (whether it being misunderstood or not) isn't evidence than what is? Can someone please explain what other evidence is needed in a case that is about someone calling someone else a 'negrito'. What other evidence is needed if the player admitted saying it, surely that's conclusive evidence????

I still think he's been ****ed over and is not a racist - but ignorance isn't an excuse in my eyes.

Look, I think this punishment is harsh but I think the best bet from the start whould have been to admit to making the comment in the heat of the moment then claim ignorance as to how offensive it could be. I think then he would have been reprimanded and given a reminder that certain words are not acceptable over here.

Instead it has been denied all along and then there has been the attempt to soften it by saying it's a much used term of endearment in Uruguay. It was the wrong approach I think and also sent out a message that the club condoned it.

We all know the punishment is harsh, I think it will be reduced on appeal, but the comment can't be justified at all. It is not acceptable here, especially with the FA and their kick it out campaign, and he should have apologised at the start and said he didn't realise this.

I reckon it could have been avoided.

    Sensible Rus, I know.

    8 match ban - on one man's say-so. Extraordinary.

I don't know another football player ever to be labelled an "unreliable witness" either. Again, extraordinary.

    Why no witnesses?

Why no representation at the meetings?

    Why no transparent report?

Lengthy ban - why no decision earlier??

Once again the FA leave more questions than answers. Once again Utd seem to get it their way. No EXPLANATIONS NEEDED.

...and he has claimed ignorance. Reeks of scapegoatism.

I'd LOVE a level playing field in the Terry case. A fair comparison.

But conveniently, we won't see that.

John Terry will get FAIR n TRANSPARENT TRIAL...you know, like law.

anyone think the timing of all this is very fishy - suarez verdict and cps decision on terry all within 24 hours of each other - is one story trying to bury the other

Read on the BBC website that the MAXIMUM sentence which could be meted out to Terry is ...remember this is a criminal court, not the kangaroo court of the FA...a £2,500 fine!

Suarez was screwed over - big time! Complex case, ambiguous use of a term, no credible witnesses - harsh sentence; Apparently obvious case, no ambiguity over terminology, witnesses - easy street!

I initially thought Suarez had got the better deal just dealing with the FA rather than the C.J.S. Clearly, that was not the case. I look forward to some decent justification from the FA, however unlikely.

    Honestly
The number of differing conclusions come to on the same amount of extremely limited information on here is unbelievable. The partisan interpretations put on the same set of vague "facts" shows you why wars happen.
Nobody here yet knows the full story, too many people are taking scraps and padding them out to suit their own agenda.
I'm hearing that Suarez has admitted using a racial slur so it's cut and dried. What are we talking about here, negrito? Is that a racist word in England? Frankly I'd never heard of it until this blew up. Negro(spanish pronunciation) means black- nothing more. It's no more an insult per se than black is in English.
The proximity of these words to the racist N word may cause confusion but it doesn't imbue them with the same meaning.
On the other hand, I don't buy the "term of endearment" defence. I think I'm safe in saying the last thing on Suarez's mind was endearing himself to Evra. I'm sure he was winding him up, but not necessarily with a racial slur. It's a huge jump to call him racist, one that should only be made with irrefutable evidence to support it.
As yet none of us have heard this evidence and until we do we should stop making it all up as we go along.

You could tell a mile off that Suarez was not arguing with Evra in a aggressive manner. He was trying to calm him down, especially after a word from the ref, he must have said something along the lines of 'Chill out Negrito' and it was all blown out of proportion. Thats one reason why I believe Suarez is innocenent. Add to that the fact there is a language barrier, Evra has tried this before and the fact that some of Suarez's family members are of the same ethnic background as Evra (Apparently describing their skin colour is racist, so..) then it just points to a huge misunderstanding.

I'm not saying Suarez is right/wrong, but I think he said it in a teasing way 'Chill out little black fella' and by him admitting to saying 'Negrito', he doesn't think/believe he has done any wrong.

If the above is actually the case of what has happened, I honestly feel sorry for Suarez.
