Got me thinking actually because it's all done by a chip in the ball, couldn't they do something like that for offside, have a chip in the boot somewhere, and all players have to have it or even like a tag on their shorts.

Edit: just checked in the Prem they don't use the chip method.

AI Overview

No, Premier League goal-line technology (GLT) does not use a chip in the ball. It relies on the Hawk-Eye camera system, which uses 14 high-speed, 3D-tracking cameras mounted around the stadium to monitor the ball's position, ensuring millimetre accuracy. This camera-based approach differs from other technologies that use sensors. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Details About Premier League Tech:
  • How it Works: Seven cameras are placed in the roof of the stadium at each end to track the ball, capturing 600 frames per second.
  • Instant Decision: If the ball crosses the line, a signal is sent to the referee's watch in under one second.
  • Alternative Systems: Other systems (like GoalRef) do use chips, but they are not used in the Premier League.
  • Other Technologies: While not used for goal-line decisions, the league is introducing separate "semi-automated" tracking for offside decisions. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

So ... and just for the bantz ..

If Pep Guardiola had joined Liverpool rather than Manchester City, had spent exactly the same money (less than Liverpool actually spent over the period, by the way) on exactly the same players and achieved exactly the same success - that would not have been 'cheating" - just another glorious chapter in the history of the 'best club in the wurrrrrld' ...

... but because he did at Manchester City a club for whom PSR is a complete and absolute irrelevance (given the wealth behind the club) - it's despicable cheating?

... and there are still some muppets that can't see that PSR / FFP are just mechanisms aimed at the suppression of any emerging (sustainable) challenges to the established elite.

FFP is the biggest misnomer out there - it's constraint of genuine competition is the polar opposite of ensuring fair play in the sport... it's a tool of monopoly.

Had one huge chance for the striker who has scored every week and he fluffed it. A couple of other great chances. Carlisle look desperate for pens so they’ll cling on and win 3-0 on penalties.

Same club cheated to win things…..

That’s why they were punished as they were heading for relegation, again.

Man Utd all over Liverpool, ref might have to find an excuse to reduce them to 10 men.
