I made a beef stir fry, it were yum, until it comes out my bum. That’s not going to be an enjoyable experience tomorrow.

I went to Costco yesterday, I generally buy packs of cod loin and smoked haddock there, but yesterday the price of cod was too high.
£16.50 a kilo from 9.80 the last time I bought there in February.
Beef is fairly cheap, if you buy the big packs.
The cheapest meat is USA pork. We bought some by mistake. I probably have most of it in the freezer still as it is quite tasteless and bland. Looks good but stops there.
We actually left without buying anything.
Diesel was £182.9 compared to £193.9 at the nearest garage.
I posted because I planned to cook one of my favourite fish dishes tonight. Cod loin with Parmesan crumb, tomato and basil sauce on tagliatelle.
Instead it’s going to be my favourite, Haddock and home made chips with marrow fat peas.

I’ve got a big pork shoulder from the butchers in the slow cooker, covered in an improvised rub into which far too much cayenne powder fell in. Big pile of diced peppers, tomato, garlic and shallots under it too, the plan was to blitz all that then stir into the pork as it’s being pulled then have in pittas. But now thinking of ****ing that off and sticking with old classic bbq butty’s.

On a side note isn’t it funny we feel safer leaving this cheap £50 gadget on top of our £1000 ovens than leaving the oven on all day unattended <laugh>

Wanted to do this in a CI casserole pot in the oven but missus wouldn’t let me and made me use this.

Are you allowed to buy US pork in the UK now????

That's certainly not a Brexit benefit, more of a penalty! The cost of slaughter, tax and transport on top of the meat production, and still cheaper than UK pork.. have to wonder where they're making the saving to make the sale profitable still... Poor pigs.

I would chuck it - full of ractopamine and banned in the EU - basically a growth hormone that they pump into the pig a few weeks before slaughter, to increase the weight. Hence why general supermarket pork is flavourless in the us. Damages the pigs health, makes them fight etc I wouldn't want to be eating the residue from that too much. **** me, I'd go pescetarian if I lived in the States and couldn't afford decently produced meat.

That diesel is expensive. Only £1.89 round my way.

It's very rare to find US pork anywhere in the UK, the UK imports around half the pork it consumes and 99% of that comes from the EU.

Isn’t a helluva lot of the pork that says British actually brought in from Europe but killed here so they’re allowed to call it. British pork??
