John Terry's mates are very nervous looking at Suarez's ban. Just imagine Terry sat around for 2 months with nothing to do...

Aye that's a good point. I suppose they'd argue sumat like footballers are in a physically challenging and competitive profession, perhaps like in the army you'd expect some verbals to be going around whereas you wouldn't with bus driving. But its a flawed argument and the fact that this chap repeated his remarks TEN TIMES means they didn't just accidentally "pop out" as it were.

Gus Poyet was on Talksport defending him saying his remarks were the norm in Uruguay and culturally its different. No excuse I'm afraid. Deserved ban for the lad.

This is ridiculous. It's just Evra's word against Suarez's unless I'm missing some piece of actual evidence that has been used to charge him. The word allegedly used can be construed as racist with a literal translation but, in Spanish, it's really not the same thing. This article explains it better than I could http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16262537.stm

I just think this sets a dangerous precedent given the lack of evidence.

On the point of why would he not be sacked when a bus driver would- bus drivers aren't worth £23m. If Liverpool sacked Suarez he'd be snapped up quicker than you can say 'negrito', potentially even by a rival, so it would harm only Liverpool.

Swords, I'm just saying, if you can be banned for three matches for denying what the ref sees as "a goalscoring opportunity," eight matches for breaking the law is a let off.

Just heard on Bbc news that the CPS are to make an announcement re JT this afternoon; sounds to me like they're not going to proceed.

Can´t we launch an appeal because technically Suarez should not have been playing and so any goals he has scored after this offence should be struck off and therefore we get a point for 0-0 draw at Liverpool.

You can take this two ways either me clutching at straws or me sounding like a Leeds fan during the Faurlin fiasco, take your pick.

I think that's the smallest straw anyone has ever clutched at.

Just seen this thread, and sorry guys, I'm going to have to disagree with most of you on this. At the end of the day you can't have people using racist language on or off the pitch, and an independent panel was found Suares guilty of doing just that. End of. For the Liverpool players to be made to wear t-shirts to "show their support" for him is embarrassing, and shows a great club in a very poor light IMHO.
