FA have decided to ban Suarez for eight games and £40,000 fined for an offence that cannot be proved beyond any reasonable doubt. The question now is whether Liverpool are going to appeal or not.Assuming they are not going to appeal Suarez would miss the following games starting tonight against Wigan. 21/12 Wigan League-Away 26/12 Blackburn League -Home 30/12 Newcastle league- Home 03/01 Manchester City League -Away 06/01 Oldham -Home (FA cup) 11/01 Manchester City-Carling cup -Away 14/01 Stoke -league - Home 15/01 Bolton Away -league~ Last game he is going to miss. Suarez would be available for the return leg of Carling cup against Manchester City at Anfield on 25/12.We are only going to miss him for just over a month. Appealing can bring more complications. Question Should we appeal or not.??? Comments:
Unfortunately, it depends entirely on the wording of the charges - It can be proved he used 'racial' insults because he admitted as much himself. Does that make him a 'racist' - no. Does it begin to help 'kick racism out of football' - possibly, provided the FA consistently stand by the precident they have set in this case, banning anybody found guilty of 'racial insults' for 8 matches........ Along with the rest of the footballing world, I hold my breath in anticipation... And sorry to address your actual point - if you are going to appeal it would need to be taken to the courts themselves, theres no point appealing to the FA...
this is not actually right. there is a 14 day window of appeal to be served first. until that happens the ban will not come into effect. Lets see what actaully happens.... IMO the FA have yet again created a stupid and unworkable precident in which no corroberating evidence is required and one guy can get another guy 8 matches just by having a word in a refs ear then running to the media to make sure the ref writes it in his report. 8 matches is less than di canio got for assualt... (11 matches for pushing ref) 3 times more than rooney now has for kicking an opponent from behind.... and seems arbitrary as there was a case i nthe past that got 3 matches.
kung fu with King Eric Eric Cantona was fined £20000 for pysicall assualt on Crystal Palace supporters in 1995 and lenghty ban.
So now we know that any racist is better off simply kicking an opponent repeatedly until the ref notices and sends him off - 3 match ban, no fine. Racists across the Sunday league pitches now know how to behave...
Yes but if said racist keeps kicking only black players, then eventually Liverpool will get a clue that not only are they paying a lot for someone who is banned all the time, but he's also a racist scum. Surez admitted using the term against evra , Liverrpol can admit it and request the ban start now or can appeal. If they want to take it to court , they will not only try and fight something the player has addmitted saying, they will also drag the clubs name through the mud to defend someones right to call someones a N*gger. and considering Liverpools the citys history with britians slave trade, probally not somethinhg they want to bring attension to the world.
****ing asshole N*gger wasn't the word used, unlike a certain Mr Terry who is probably ****ting his shorts right now. And WTF has the slave trade got to do with anything? Do you really, honestly believe that Liverpool were the only city involved? And you come from London? Get out of here you piece of ****, you make lettuce look interesting.
Terry probably is cacking his pants. It'll might be the only way to keep his arse intact. Terry the prison wife CPS decision due on Terry case today
I remember reading, I think it was on the guardian site, that he can waive his right to appeal. That would mean the ban would take part immediately. Hence my making a thread very similar to this last night. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/109971-Serious-question-about-Suarez-ban-(no-really).
I've just had some lettuce with my lunch-I found it fascinating. Seriously, Really fevriul, making Liverpool responsible for the slave trade is the most outlandish rubbish I've heard so far on this subject.
Since when has it been implied that John Terry used the n word against Anton Ferdinand? You need to get your facts straight.
Actually, what Terry said is a whole lot worse: you could possibly, just about, in exceptional circumstances, justify use of the N word, but calling someone a black **** is about as low as anyone can go. Apart from Mr Terry of course. I expect he's got a few left in his locker.
terry will probably get the same ban but the fa will appeal it as they are afraid it will affect the euros - they will get the ban suspended or reduced to one game or something ridiculous as that
Why is it worse? Suarez referenced Evra's race, Terry allegedly referenced part of Ferdinand's race. Just that Terry also added an insult to the end which is said dozens of times between players in each and every game. Also he was not alleged to have called Ferdinand a black shit. Like I said, get your facts straight.
If Suarez does waive his right to appeal then it is very likely that his legal advisors (and those of LFC/FSG) believe that they have a strong case to present to either a UK civil court or the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Such a move would take the matter out of the hands of the FA. It would also mean that it would probably not be in the FA's interest to impose the ban whilst such proceedings were taking place as they could well find themselves facing claims for damages jointly and severally from Suarez and LFC.
Terry's lawyers will claim that what he said was "Kant" and that this was actually an attempt at philosophical debate and nothing to do with racism. The FA will agree, but I doubt the law courts will. To Kill a Mockingbird in reverse.
I wonder which lucky lad will be sharing a cell with the England Captain. Will he get to do a documentary - Mean Machine does Big Brother! In geordie accent "Day 42 of the sentence, and Big Tatooed Joe has called John into the cell for a bit of prison luvin'"
