This is my list of drivers (in order) showing who has the toughest mental capabilities and who is the weakest. From the 2010 season. 1) Michael Schumacher 2) Lewis Hamilton 3) Mark Webber 4) Nico Rosberg 5) Adrain Sutil 6) Robert Kubica 7) Kamui Kobayashi 8) Heikki Kovalainen 9) Sebastian Buemi 10) Nick Heidfeld 11) Timo Glock 12) Sebastian Vettel 13) Jensen Button 14) Vitantonio Liuzzi 15) Vitaly Petrov 16) Jaimi Alguasari 17) Pedro Delarosa 18) Lucas Digrassi 19) Nico Hulkenberg 20) Fernando Alonso 21) Felipe Massa 22) Bruno Senna 23) Karun Chandok 24) Rubens Barrichello Debate, and please no swearing or being keyboard warriors....
+ WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS SEASON, HOW LONG UNTIL IT ****ING STARTS !!!! Sorry had to get out of my system, ohh wait, I'VE NEVER WAITED THIS LONG, WTF IS THIS F1 OR OAP'S BOWLS CHAMPIONSIP FFS!!!. Done.
schumacher that nearly choked away 2003? The same cheat that could not beat the most complete driver in Monaco and panicked by parking his car? lol!
2) Lewis Hamilton? He's the biggest choker on the grid! Sure he faces a lot of criticism and still keeps going, but he still lacks the mental strength when under pressure. Alonso on the other hand is very strong mentally. He can take the pressure and pull out exceptional performances. Alonso should be higher up on the list. As for who is mentally the strongest, I have no idea - but I wouldn't say it was Schumacher.
I don't want to be part of the Fernando flag waving squad on here but I would put him in the top two regarding mind-set.
Are you guys kidding?!! Stresses out over Lewis not getting a strong enough penalty Blocks the pit box then throws a tantrum and threatens his boss Get's ****ty and shakes his fist at a rookie driver that didn't move out of the way for King Alonso Crashes at Monaco Crashes at Spa Can't handle backmarkers at Canada Get's caught sleeping at Canada Throws a tantrum after rightly getting a penalty at Silverstone The only time he has demonstrated mental strength is though his refusal to admit there was anything wrong with him winning the numerous races fixed on his behalf!
Considering everything Hamilton has gone through since he's been in the sport, such as the racism and with Alonso in 2007, he has a very strong 'mind set', even though he does beat himself up when something happens which isn't his fault i.e car failure. I think mind set is Alonso's strongest point, as he proved in Singapore with Vettel behind him all race, and does well in qualifying with the pressure. But, I think, and many others probably do too, he bottles it when his team mate is a head and he can't overtake or keep with them, also the same when much less experienced drivers are in front of him. And El_Alonso_King, don't WUM everyone is fed up with you already. When we have good debates, we show both sides of the story in our points, where as children like you have one idea planted in your mind and you never elaborate on it. It's childish, and you need to grow up. Rant over
By that reckoning then F1McLaren I would put Vettel a lot higher up. He had some shockers that were as the result of overzealousness but second half of the season he was incredible in his pursuit, kept a level head and pulled it off right when it mattered. Kimi has to be one of the best for mindset.
Are you crazy???? Hamilton coped under pressure in Hungary 2007 when Alonso was so arrogant and ignorant.
Hamilton wasn't under serious pressure in Hungary 07! - Alonso wasn't arrogant or ignorant - Hamilton started it, and then McLaren said Alonso's actions afterwards were due to a delayed radio transmission.
He was he could have gone to the media and said all sorts of things but he remained calm and went on to drive a blinder of a race on sunday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbUtL_0vAJk
Considering other drivers for a minute: Webber for racing with a fracture? Barrichello for not letting Schumacher force him into the wall at Hungary? I can't believe he's bottom! Kovaleinen the fire man? That tooks balls and indicates an impressive mentality, to racing and safety? Di Resta? He's been doing well in testing so far, and in interviews he seems focussed?
Which driver was WANTING the Korea gp to start in torrential rain >>> Hamilton, I respect him this guy is a machine, and has great things coming. Also, he doesn't cry when he knows a driver is catching him (Alonso) instead he thinks about how to defend his position, he also does not take his temper out on the team radio. Schumacher has been putting up with criticism all his career, someone to put up with ****ers putting him down, still fight in the sport he loved at the age of 42 with no regrets is special. He never lets anything gat to him, often robotic "yes" but thay way suits him, he gets the job done and can live and drive in F1 another day.
In bold he only wanted it to start because he would have been miles behind in the championship, if he was on pole he wouldnt EVER want to race. Italics, he whinged in Australia blaming the team about the strategy when he's driving the car. And in Monaco when whinging about "Well, what should I do? Race them or conserve fuel & brakes" Alonso did less moaning than that, if you dont believe me prove me wrong
Hamilton and Webber 2nd and 3rd. I'm sorry but they both crumbled at the business end of this season. Vettel in contrast dominated the last four races under intense pressure but you only have him 12th. Schumacher, Hamilton, Webber, Vettel, Button, Alonso, Massa and Barrichello are the only ones you can really judge because the rest haven't been pitched into the high pressure situation of a title fight.
Errm Alonso (Australia 2010) "Hamilton is catching you 2 tenths a lap Fernando", Alonso "I don't want to know"... Instead of acting like a spoilt twat, he could find a way to solve the problem. It's not about pressure, it's about how well the mind can produce good answers to solutions ...>>> How to overtake in certain situations, Vettel was fast last year, but his ability to overtake (Spa 2010), (Turkey 2010), and his temper (Hungary 2010) was what faulted him.
Alonso: "I don't want to know" -- meaning rather then having a chat about how close Hamilton was, he concentrated on the driving (and did a good job of it).
