I know this might sound a bit crazy an Tiote is one of my favourite players and I'd hate to see him go but if you were Pardew would you accept £25mil+ for him if Ashley let you spend every penny of it on new players. I think I would. We signed him for about £4mil I think and that would be a hell of a profit. I'd get Carr to find another player of the 'Tiote mould' (brilliant and cheap) to replace him and I would use the money to strengthening the squad in our weaker areas. I'd buy a centre back (Samba or Ridgewell)a full back (Clyne or Taiwo) and a striker (Zaha or Giroud) as well as Tiote' replacement. If I spent wisely I could probably get Ridgewell, Clyne, Zaha, Holiett and a (Carr special) replacement for Tote for around £25mil maybe just a bit more than that. So ultimately I'd turn that loss of a key player into a a situation that would help the club move forward. Now obviously as a fan the thought of loosing Tiote is awful and I'd never want it to happen but if you were the manager would you sell him for £25mil+?

Nope even if i was allowed to spend it all. Even if a new Carr player was brought in, there's no guarantee than he'll be as good as Tiote or have the passion for the team that Tiote has <ok>

Everyone makes it sound like it's so easy to find another Tiote...if it were, potential suitors would solve their CDM problems by buying a cheap alternative abroad rather than spend 20+ million for Tiote. We have no reason to trust the money would be spent on the squad, and we can't just assume Carr has alternatives lined up for every position, especially one that we're presently not in need of filling.

I'm with the OP here. Tiote is great, and I don't want to see him leave because I'm convinced most of the money won't be spent.

BUT, if Ashley promised to spend every penny, I would let him go. (But not for the 25 million suggested here, I'd want £30 million at least.)

If we were going to spend, I'd have faith in Carr to not only find a cheap replacement, but also strengthen the squad in other areas.

Hells NO! We need to hold onto our best players and invest in good cover/replacements for **** players (Perchino, Smith) if we ever want to get into Europe or beyond.

It wouldn't just mean losing a player, it would mean losing the team work and balance that we have at the moment. We couldn't just get somebody to come in and take over a roll that Tiote played, we'd have to give him time to settle in and get used to his new team mates. How long would that take?

If I were the owner of a French club, I'd not only look at hairy ladies and think "yum", I'd look at Newcastle making an enormous profit off french imports and think "wat one min-ut! Perrhappps I cuddd makkkk such moneee"...

Tiote, as it stands, forms one half of a duo that I honestly find myself thinking is the best in the premier league... Honestly... Go on, you think it's ridiculous... Then, wat one min-ut! It hits you... Of a CM pairing, they are top 3 at least...

Before he arrived at this club, we had Smith playing DM, with his rash tackles and glorious locks... Our midfield was composed of wingers and barely more than this lion-spawn running around like an unleashed hannibal lecter... When Tiote arrived, the team changed formation, style and what's more, it changed for the better... No longer was CM a position for a bearded concubine, or a scouse goal-hanger, it became the channel through which the very gates of footballing heaven emerged....

This leads me to an inevitable conclusion... Cheick Tiote is not a man... He is a philosophy...

How much would you pay for this idea? For Manchester United, it is a perspective every fan demands from those in red... For Chelsea, it is an outlook that would quench the anxious shuffle Ambromovich applies to his seat nearly every game... For Liverpool, well, **** it, they just want to make Newcastle United "The Best Bits", getting Anne Robinson to host it because they're used to the presence of mouldy old leather...

Such a shame that this idea is incompatible with Mike Ashley's idea... Which is a sustainable club (*cough* cashflow *cough*) that provides a middle-man service (or "stepping stone", to use a cliche) to the rich...

Unfortunately for you and I, that means never progressing, with decline inevitable as Carr eventually turns up with some South American villagers who have never even conceived of a ball shaped object, never mind evolved from using stone tools or worshipping the Royal Family...

I can't fathom a situation where Tiote doesn't leave this January or next summer, unless Ashley were willing to invest a little of the clubs outstanding profits into honing a team, which despite frequent re-incarnations due to Mike's inteference, still retains great potential... Ultimately, an investor and businessman would be looking to this root, I feel, to capitalise on a European revenue source...

Q: So, if I were manager, would I sell?
    A: I can't see I have a choice.

All these questions are pointless, because we won't see any of the money. It's like saying "Would you sell Tiote if Perch turned out to be a world class holding midfielder?" Not gonna happen.
