The week just past has witnessed both Kevin-Prince Boateng and Glen Johnson score stunning goals for their respective clubs. Considering for these two players, like a number of others, had their careers 'launched' in many respects by Pompey, do you take any particular enjoyment from seeing these lads doing well? http://bit.ly/uYTOyl I had a bit of a crack at putting together the best Portsmouth side from the 2002-08 era; which player in particular are you proud to call a former Pompey player?
out of all the great players we went through the one i miss the most is mendes, he used to completely change the way the whole team played when he was on the pitch.
You're in a funny mood today Godders. Won't mention that you sounded just like a former member of your own board - but I know you aren't him
Lassana Diarra was sheer quality I agree, but how can you top the goals of Pedro Mendes, that kept us up in "The Great Escape" season, when all was apparently lost ?
His goal against Man City completely kick started your season and at the time when it was most needed
I know you Pompey fans were excited when Benjani returned some while back. What,s happened - why is he not playing
He has lost his legs and fitness - but we did all kind of know that when Cotterill revealed him as a signing. I for one, was most surprised to see Benji back. Don't get me wrong, a bit of a legend at Fratton Park regardless, but I wouldnt be surprised if he is released in January.
I think Benjani was brought back to boost fans morale, rather than necessarily tactical reasons. I only saw him play one game and he seemed to have lost his pace and his workrate as well (which were his two main attributes). Plus, he was always offside (that much hasn't changed at least). It's good to see former Portsmouth players do well though. Mendes was awesome though. I think I was watching that match on BBC Live text if I remember rightly: "GOAL - Pedro Mendes 90+4" Aaaaaaaaaah!!!!
