Thank-you that is exactly my point. It's my opinion. I wasn't at the court hearing, I don't know the exact evidence etc etc. I'm just putting my opinion across on an internet forum ffs!!! All I think is for the punishment to be that severe they must surely have a tighter case than many believe. If the appeal is successful i'll have no problem eating my words.
A rape charge will actually have a serious, very in-depth and highly accurate investigation made into it along with a genuine prosecution who will have done their utmost best to have proved that there was a rape and it would actually be decided by a jury, not a mickey mouse select few who work for the FA.
Contscrepe: apparently both Evra (once he'd calmed down) and the FA (even though the found him guilty) actually disagree with you; you can apparently NOT be a racist but still make racist comments: Thank god the FA don't oversee Rape trials: you would be able to commit rape without being a rapist..apparently
Actions are not comparable to words. If you read a couple of pages of this thread, you'd see this point has been made.
What I do find interesting is that the FA have made sure of the headlines tomorrow but also made sure that's all there will be; There will not be a forensic examination of the detail of the case & verdict underneath the Headlines "SUAREZ IS A RACIST-according to fa) No journalist even if they want to will be able to discuss the "how"
Neither of those statements are in any doubt. I argued that you cannot compare a criminal charge of rape to an FA charge of racism (especially as it seems the FA do not know the proper definition of racism). The whole proceedings and evaluations are entirely different.
Actually I've read it all: I was taking the piss albeit not too well....but actually a couple of our terrorist laws would equate words carrying the same if not more weight under" incitement" depending on proving a link between one persons words & another's actions . In fact it's the main argument against any racist or xenophobic language (basis of inclusion along with the racist action part of our laws) that if allowed it becomes widely accepted & risks dehumanising a section of the population to the point which allows others to take the one step further into physical action because "they're not really human: not like us really.." Verbal abuse against the Jews came before the executions. But that's the very extreme of course. As for my personal opinion: if everything we've heard in the he said he said leaks: it seems to me if Suarez is damned by the accusation of one + admitting to language that in the context of an argument could have racist edges to it then Evra admitted the same under the same circumstances & should receive exactly the same punishment. Might teach both these hotheads to grow up & do the job they're highly paid to do instead of playground fighting & both dragging the reputations of their clubs through the mud. But we still haven't got the facts yet soooo....
How ****ing ridiculous is this!?! I don't care if he even said a racist derogatory term, 8 games?! As has been said before, even if he did say something that may have been interpreted as racist, it doesn't make him a racist and is more than likely no skin off Evra's back. He's using everything and anything he can to get back at Suarez because he got frustrated in the match about not being able to mark him. Racism is not something rife in football anymore, and the media and FA who are trying to make it seem that way are doing so for their own personal agendas. Even if it was rife in the game, I wouldn't start with the players - but the fans. Racism is more than throwing a derogatory insult around, it's an idea, something that stems from prejudice. I could quite easily go upto an Indian person in the street and call them a Paki; making me automatically look like a racist despite the fact that if it was a person from Pakistan it'd be quite acceptable. Onto the actual sentence... since when did a possible (with only 1 witness, being the "victim") racial slur end in an 8 match ban where actual physical harm such as malicious tackles would result in a red card maximum. Surely if this has supposedly happened to Evra before (Chelsea's groundsman..) then he'd be getting used to it by now, and maybe even be able to sleep at night without crying. The whole world's gone PC mad, it's alright for Black and Asian people to be racist towards white people, but god forbid it being the other way around. Not that it makes it okay, but it's still not right. /RANT.
