Didn't they keep it simple for paying out? Eg the cashier having to work out winnings? Im sure ive seen that somewhere and now its computerised they have it all worked out for them. Probably makes the odds able to be more precise and them pay out slightly less too knowing those lot!!
Yes,which I was more of less what I was trying to put across.I witnessed personally the odd time in the past that the bookie could make mistakes,he was human, and if you weren't on the ball or utterly pissed, you were paid short.A quick 'get him to work it out again' to the lass at the counter usually sufficed but bookies on course were a bit more argumentative and took advantage of drunk punters.

Nowadays the button on a computer calculates the bet and potential winnings show on your bet slip...It's done away with the arithmetics in the back shop and ultimately cost jobs.

The William Hill's in my area recently shut up shop,no real surprise as the young lass who ran it told me one Friday afternoon,as I walked by with my lasses dog and she brought it out a bowl of water, that her nett takings that day were £124...Online betting being the main culprit but I hold my hands up as that's what I do nowadays.

My thoughts are with you and your Mam SW, i'm sure she's getting the treatment she needs,
Thanks mate, she was in HRI for 3 weeks recently, but it was not the right environment for her, she’s now in a specialist care home called Raleigh court & it has been brilliant for her. She won’t get better, but she is happy & that is all we can hope for

Well she's comfortable and got you with her, that's all she'll need right now.

Same year for me GLP,March.Sat with her for 3 days and nights, left the room for 10 minutes, came back and she'd passed...
Similar here 27th July to 5th August 2014. Stayed with her every night at HRI. Auntie and Uncle came to take over the day shift on the 5th, just pulled in the drive at home and she was on her way out. Got back to HRI and she’d passed whilst I was parking.

I think it's intentional :emoticon-0148-yes: I sometimes beat myself up about it,other times I just think she didn't want me to be there when she went.

I know what you are going through mate. I’m in the exact same situation with my mum. It’s horrific isn’t it

Awe, SW3, ditto what I said earlier to TC, so sad to hear this, my sincere thoughts & those of your tiger family, am sure, are with you. No consolation, I know, but from personal experience, you’d give anything/do anything to take away suffering from them, you feel helpless, but all you can give is time & love. Your Mum will be in good/best hands, & will be treat well & with dignity, which they deserve in their time of need. Little consolation but let’s hope we can get a positive result for you all this eve.
