I'm not thinking the money side of it just everyone in footbal circles must have an idea of the state we are in due to one man - Bates... For a while back at the start of his regime i jumped to his defence and have to say and must APOLOGISE now that i thought the only reason everyone got on his back was purley because of his Chelsea and down Souff ties... Being from down Souff myself like it never obviously bothered me. I admit my nievety there big time but it didn't take long for me to realise i cant defend the man and now openly state he is bleeding us dry - A leach on the club.... Unless he change the habbit of a lifetime and invests in the team at January we are going nowhere further than the playoffs at best.... Sad times.
I still think this is a massive part of why fans hate him to be honest and a lot of the other stuff that people say has being manipulated in a way to back themselves up, to me, its started like a virus and is infecting more people everyday until people actually believe these manipulated arguments are true. Its a classic case of when anyone hates anyone, you pick up on all of the bad traits and dont accept there are any good ones, i've seen it too many times before and i still think people dislike him more than they dislike his way of running leeds (not to say he doesn't have bad traits to his business management though) Also, i've got to say it is bad for the club for all the fans to be getting on his back the way they do whether it is right or wrong or acceptable or not, its not good for the team and would only help to reinforce the decision for a player NOT to come to Elland Road
Its so easy for him though to sort alot of this so quick - the majority of fans want some investment in the team and reasonable prices for tickets, now more than ever being everyone is totally skint... He also has to realise that bitching about players past or present sets a dangerous presedent which is now being realised at the expense of the fans...
His outbursts are definitely not helping him but i see that as no reason to hate him, the only reason to dislike him i see is his ticket prices and i also think if he lowered them, he would get bigger crowds which would help the on-pitch performance and wouldn't really lose money because there are bigger crowds. A billionaire just took over an australian club and he has made ticket prices $5 and every person is going to the games and getting around 25,000 people when previously they were lucky to get 10,000 people
Totally agree re the tickets... We should be doing the kids for a quid for a few games start getting bums on seats - its not rocket science just a decent marketing strategy... Also without the new generation of fans where does that leave us? Again this makes it obvious that Bates doesn't give a damn about long term and gives me another reason to dislike him and his methods... I want a good future for the club and we need youngsters going to games to experience Elland Road and get an love for the club... Makes me so kin angry..
