Thing is though there isn't a stronger case because Anton is not black, his more mixed-race so what JT said was irrevelant

Why would the FA give him this stern punishment without sufficient evidence? Suarez also came out and explained why he had said meaning he HAD said the accused word.

Terry has said he was telling Ferdinand he hadn't said the thing he had said and the video had caught him saying that.

Both are disgusting if true and should be given equal punishment.

Because it's about race. It's a PR exercise to make the FA look like it's tackling racism.

Well that's my opinion vs yours, hasn't Suarez said he said the word anyway? He's just given a plausible excuse for using it. That's evidence to me.

Not so sure now having read LFCs statement re the verdict:

Liverpool have released a statement in the light of Luis Suarez's eight-game ban. They are not happy. It says: "We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken."

Well, Suarez admitted he said the accused word is probably sufficient evidence to prove he said it. From there on in, it's all about intent. I can only assume the FA is erring on the side of caution in order to stop any players using that excuse in the future. They are making the point that using any term that refers to a player's skin colour in a potentially derogatory manner is unacceptable, regardless of if you meant it in an offensive way or not. Much like they've taken the "going for the ball" explanation out of the rule book when it comes to dangerous challenges - they're trying to make the rules as clear as possible in the future.

A bit harsh for Suarez that he's the one who gets made an example of. But then you could argue the same for Rio with his missed drugs test and Rooney with his swearing. Both times the FA was presented with a new situation, and they used both opportunities to set a precedent. I'd assume it would be the same case here.

It probably does mean that they have to be consistent and give Terry the same punishment tho'. As you say Drogs, using the n word in any context when talking to an opponent shouldn't be acceptable. Terry should just have said "I didn't call you that", or similar.

I agree with you there bill, something should've been done but does that mean nothing should be done again? Two wrongs don't make a right and I hope they treat every racist situation in this magnitude in future.

Liverpools statement has clearly said though that he's been found guilty on Evras word alone. Doesn't say anything about Suarez admitting to anything.

Well if that is true then 8 games is a lot, however if this is based on video evidence then I believe it's appropriate.
