Midfield working incredibly well for 25 minutes, then completely went off the boil, they need a bollocking to get them back on it
Good first half of the first half but a little disappointing to let Wolves back in after squandering some good opportunities. Hopefully they can get Wolves on the back foot throughout the second half.
Crofts isn't at the races as part of a diamond. Ward is steaming past him and linking with Jarvis. Ward needs someone to mark so I (as if I know more than PL) would bring on Bennet on the right and Crofts off. Bennet has played full back in his time at Brighton so he knows how to defend as well. Then maybe Hoolahan will se more of the ball like the first 30 mins and keep Henry occupied. He is just launching balls toward Fletcher who is winning the aerial battle. Stop Henry and the ball won't come forward so much.
I was getting too optimistic we would hold them out. We had our usual defensive flap with Ruddys palm away and then Tierney got away with one against Ebanks Blake. Oh well - can see us scoring again but Fletcher has been a right handful so far and their winger is as tricky as we have seen! First half summed up the diamond perfectly for me. When its on there is no finer sight and the build up to the goal is as good as you will see any team playing it around but when the opposition suss it out it can cause additional pressure to build as we just cannot get a foot on the ball!
Agree about crofts he's been all over the place offering nothing, surman also needs to know when to go forward and when to help fox out.
I agree about Crofts he seems to enjoy losing the ball today, but I'd replace him with Johnson as we'd need someone with a bite in the midfield.
they probably went off the boil a bit due to two games in three days for the same midfield. can see johnson coming on after 60
A game we bossed for so long is slipping away minute by minute. We need a change of personnel or tactics.
