`You and I have been given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains, some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another time. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap.' Classic Glenn Hoddle logic.
Surely what you mean is ' We may have the same argument in a years time' unless you have a crystal ball? All signings are gambles, £3m is a gamble, but you seem to be in contradiction land when you admit to being inclined to the punt! Going back to my first, opening post (or it's spirit) would you be prepared to offload Fryatt to bring in Sharp? It was never meant as a difficult ot lary question, even though it draws answers of that ilk!
No, we would have the same argument. Billy Sharp is a top player but he's not perfect. If Matty Fryatt's current form isn't satisfactory, no-one will ever be satisfied. I'm not being contradictory. I'd sign Billy Sharp and I'd be happy if he chipped in with as many goals as Matty Fryatt has. No, I'm greedy, I'd want both. If that isn't possible, I'd keep Fryatt and spend the money elsewhere.
That's not what he said, he said if did convert more of his chances, we would never have been able to afford him in the first place.
Nitpicking - it's his form here that's relevant and the argument carries without hindrance; the better he is, the more he is worth - so why not perform to his maximum?
Bring on the scorn, but are you all still so happy with Fryatt - why not stick him on the market and use the dosh to bring in someone with finish? He is pissing points against the wall and it has to stop.
just out of interest how many goals has fryatt scored in the calendar year ? and how many has he this season im guessing at 8?? he scores his goals in bunches. typical city fans, when hes scoring hes amazing, when he goes a few games without hes crap. when cam stewart hits a bit of form again fryatt will score again, if we get hammill in fryatt might become more consistent but until hes got 2 wingers supplying quality chances then hes going to be inconsistent.
This is what keeps being overlooked, the chances are there. We create more than 10 chances almost every game at the moment and yet we still can't score (and when we do, it's generally Koren).
Chester was the best player on the pitch yesterday, can't believe people are slating him. He made several key tackles! People are ****ing blind sometimes. Him and Koren are the best players we've got! Fryatt played well yesterday. His hold up play is fantastic. He always manages to jink past players in the box, he has great close control.
Fez, without doubt Fryatt has the ability to score, but he is lacking in my honest view. Stats mean nack all. Lack of on target shots equals lack of goals and yes I expect every striker to have a better goal against shot ratio. That's what I don't get about football, as a hockey manager, I expected centre forwards to score every time that they shot at goal, to think otherwise was contrary to the CF's own self belief. If the ratio was the other way, I would not select them as CF, no point. The fact is that their only job is to put the ball in the net. Please note expectation is different from reality. I would not select a goal keeper without expecting him to stop every shot and would drop a keeper who's ratio of saves to goals against was the wrong way round. Only two or three players in a team have the same expectation. Keepers and strikers. You have to say that, Fryatt against Lambert proves Fezs point.
I think Fryatt will be our club top scorer this season with 'about' 15 goals in all comps. If I am wrong feel free to point this out after the play off final. I think the criticism of him is well over the top. He ain't perfect, but we aren't Man Utd and we can't afford Wayne Rooney FFS! Yeah? Get real, we are not in the position to sign a striker who will convert all his chances so deal with it. We are Hull City afterall.
What would you reckon Fryatt is worth? £2-3M? I have read that we may have a similar amount available for signings - so what could we get for around £3-4M? The stumbling block would probably be the ongoing wages. Read Barmby's interview in the HDM and it is clear he is totally pissed off by the lack of goals against created chances - he is not picking out individuals, so whose fault is it? I know, we'll all blame Gulacsi as usual and the super-sub scrapegoat McShane. Pretty soon my new year resoilution is going to float down the Swaneem along with our promotion push!
I've said on other articles, the only one I can remember was in the first half when he took about 20 touches and eventually chipped it to the keeper's hands in the dead centre of the goal. As I've also said before, it's not stats or goal records that bother me. It's the fact he doesn't look like scoring. He rarely ever hits the corner of the goal (or even aims for it) he rarely ever shoots with power either. All of his shots seem to be the same soft dink. He doesn't get a lot off target, but rarely troubles the keeper, so I'm starting to wonder if he's playing it safe aiming for the middle of the goal and maybe he could up his game by gambling a bit and aiming for the corner, risking putting it wide in the process. Who's knocking Chester? You're right he's our best player, but I can't see any criticism of him. I agree he will be our top scorer if we don't sign anyone else, because he will still be the main striker and play almost every game. The thing is that the chances being created by the team deserve so much more reward than they are getting because of a lack of finishing (not particularly him yesterday but very often it is him) We aren't going any higher than where we are now by carrying on missing chances. Some will be happy with that, I'd be looking for further progress considering how few teams have actually been any better than us this season. Won't it piss people off to see the likes of Boro and West Ham finish above us when we've shown we're actually a better team than them but just can't finish chances to kill them off?
