oh come now that is nonsense, unless of course your referring to the likes of McShane - Kilbane - Simpson - Harper - Cairney and we all know your not. ffs,. 5 million is nowt compared to the worth of the main players and the £80m tv richies on offer which may well be only be 4 months away by January.
I know you are the eternal optimist, but if you think we'd turn down £5m for Koren, then frankly, you're bonkers.
i am bonkers ? ffs, losing Koren for 5million when bigger money is on offer IS BONKERS. but back on planet earth i dont see any championship club offering anywhere near enough for Koren even Lesta. i think NP will blow his budget on some wide players as he has mentioned.
Yes, I did edit. Sat in a car park in Mcr waiting for a 3.30 meeting and not the best typer on my HTC. Do not want Kebe, however I'm wondering when Ravel Morrison will get mentioned in this thread
I suspect that you are in a minority of 1 if you think that the club would turn down an offer of £5m for Koren. You seem to be assuming that it would be a Championship club who is sniffing around. It could be a Premier League club. I doubt it would be Blackburn if what Salgado said is true, but it could be Bolton or several clubs in the bottom half
looks like i am but the damage it may well do to Citys promotion cause could cost us far more in the long run. £5m against the £80m ? hhhmmmmmm i agree with you in that it will be a desperate PL club but IF its the ones at the bottom then i would hope that Koren will stay for his promotion bonus instead. by the way, what has Salgado been saying ? nothing nice it sounds.
with the team that NB has now bloody right i would and with the right additions in January a Top 2 finish. imo, it would be crass stupidity to even think of letting Koren go for 5m as things stand and who is to say that Hull City wont be in the top 2 come Jan 3rd ?
I heard that Salgado has said that, notwithstanding that Blackburn hardly have any fit defenders, he has been left out of the squad for tonight as they can't afford to give him a new contract
I can't think of a player in this division who wouldn't be moving on if someone offered £5m for them. Though they don't need the money, Leicester would probably snap your hand off at £5m for some of the guys who haven't worked out.
Losing Koren would be an unmitigated disaster. If he's on say ten large a week and someone comes in and offers him twenty we have to match it. An extra ten grand a week is a massive amount, half a million a year but it would cost at least double that in transfer fees to replace him. That's without wages. We let him go and it's goodbye to promotion, for me it really is that simple. The likes of Butterfield etc may be decent enough but as good as RK? No chance, It really is a ****ty Americanised term but for me he 's the MVP not only for our team but in the whole league. However I have a sneaky feeling that our star larker may be on the move in January and I'll be devastated.
Part of me is glad its Koren we've had interest in. Firstly he's not one of young promising players. I know he's been our spark this season but if a struggling PL team or a money club like Leceister are in for him and we can milk them for as much as we can, we've got to remember he is player who is almost definitely going to leave when his contract comes to an end in 2013 for his one last big day. He is also on the wrong side of 30 remember. If we can then spend some/all of the received money a similar player with age on his side, surely that is a good bit of business? Don't get me wrong I will be really upset if Koren goes but if the money is right, cash in and improve the squad. 5 mil for Koren would be dream. Spend some of that on a players like Butterfield, Barnes or even Brady (if thats a possibility) or even all three with money like that. That would be progress right? Would that out weigh the cost of not getting promotion? Well thats what Barmby, Pearson and the Allams have to decide. UTT
But whats the point in getting 5 million for koren if we arent gonna use it to buy either a suitable replacement or a decent striker that can actually finish?? As good as sam vokes may be, his goalscoring record isnt exactly prolific. The fact is that we dont actually need any more than 1 or 2 players to improve the side we already have....we would be much better off blowing all our budget on one quality player than signing a few average players that arent really going to improve the team.
That same scenario seems to happen quite alot with many championship clubs, ie decent players being shipped off so chairmen and the money men can pay off debts. Little or non of the transfer fees goes towards getting a suitable replacement.
