NW has said 'We will be looking to take on loan two or three players, a couple from England and one from abroad.' after having a meeting with all the shareholders today.

I cant understand why Mr Tony fernandes is not splashing the cash for some sustainable players, getting in loans means their heart isn’t fully in the club and therefore performances can suffer

I was under the impression that NW had a large budget to spend, it seems whatever has been said in that meeting has resulted in less money and a Flavio Briatore attitude to buying players has returned.

Unfortunately my faith in NW is decreasing and a little bit disappointed in Tony F.

TF is not going to give NW unlimited funds because in our current position that would be foolish. If NW keeps us up he will be gone at the end of the current season,a new manager will come in next season with funds available.TF appears to be in for the long haul and NW doesnt have time on his side.

January prices are too high so makes sense to get loanees in (who have something to prove) for the rest of the season. Maybe with the option to buy in the summer. Main advantage is that they have to prove themselves and we get to see them perform before we buy. Still think there are a couple of irons in the fire to be bought though, nod nod wink wink.

I think Neil has already mentioned that he will buy a couple of players and then loan three others, so maybe he's only talking about those loanees here.

I recon this is a little smoke and mirrors - I'd be surprised if w don't sign Bassong or A N Other defender on a permanent basis.

It also depends on who is available and at what price.

Many of the names talked about on here are over-priced (both transfer fee and wage), others won't want to commit themselves to deals which could see them in the Championship next season. Similarly the club doesn't want to be tied into an expensive squad that might go down. If we are relegated there would have to be a sell off and by then the players' value would have dropped significantly.

It is an incredibly difficult balancing act.

Unfortunately staying up and doing well doesn't only rely on spending and signings. Team management, morale, injuries and form are just as important - if not moreso.

It's probably going to be tough and a close run thing but there will not be a lot of difference between the clubs in 11th to the third relegation spot.

Loans are the best way forward in Jan. Usually very very few good players are sold in Jan. Get them in with an option to buy. If they produce you have first option and if they don't, no harm done, let them go.

Loans with a view to a permanent move in the summer....can't be a bad thing. Works for everyone.

Well, there is a little harm done in that you must give them a place in the 25 man squad and if they turn out to be ****e or get injured, then you're stuck with a useless player in the 25.

It also makes sense to get players in on loan, with an option to buy in summer if we stay up, otherwise we will have more players on our books, on premier wages that we cannot shift. Vine, Dave and one or two others readily spring to mind. Pus if TF announces NW has mega millions to spend..then the prices will increase dramitically on the players we want in.

I really don't think that clubs would not realise what money we have because we don't talk about it. If Roman at Chelsea said he was skint would people believe it?
    It really makes no difference.

WE must all realise that TF is a businessman and uses the camera to promote many things, (himself being one). The stunt with the twitter for fans to pick players was just a PR stunt. The talking to fans after the game about wanting to buy £10m players but Spurs won't let them go is fantasy but great PR stuff.
We must understand that or we will get carried away thinking that players like Defoe will be bought for £8-10M.

TF is great and i am glad he is our owner but if you had listened to what he said (with Amit) when he took over, he said that he would not be throwing silly money around and we would run QPR properly as a tight ship., 'from the ground up', 'get the foundations right first'. He will do just that.

He spent good money in August and brought in some good players. I expect he will also add in January but notice how the tone has changed from NW a few weeks ago about 'not liking loans' to yesterday saying he wants 3 loans? It's not rocket science.

I said some time ago that we won't be bringing in superstars because this is our first season back in the Prem and they won’t gamble just yet.

This all makes sense Ellers. Another point that supports this is that in many games especially recently we have not looked like a cohesivive, well drilled unit. It ain't going help us to get this down by bringing in lots of new players again in January, after the many that came in the summer. Keep those we have got who are playing regularly including Adel, and get in 2/3 others to stiffen us defensively, maybe 2 very good CD's, and 1 a box to box midfield player (Livermore?), sounds about right to me. Though I'd love to see Defoe - I can't believe he'll come.

not sure i agree with all of this - i don't think it would be wise of TF to come out and say money will be spent in jan, then not follow through with it. it would make him sound like he can't be trusted and a bit silly. personally, i think he will put his money where his mouth is and help bring in some quality.

i could believe that defoe will sign in jan, but also wouldn't be surprised if he didn't and would depend who spurs bought in first. out of interest, if he couldn't be bought for £8-10m, how much do you think he's worth? i wouldn't pay anymore than that.
