Sunderland travel to Port Vale in the FA Cup 5th Round.
Last time out Sunderland won at Leeds and Port Vale beat Bristol City.
Sunderland qualified for the 5th round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Oxford and now face Port Vale who are currently bottom of League One, the Valiants beat lack lustre Bristol City 1-0 in extra time on Tuesday night. Ben Waine netted a 112th-minute winner for the hosts at Vale Park. Vale had the better opportunities to score but in the 120th minute, Bristol City missed a gilt-edge opportunity to send the game to penalties. A cross into the Vale box was flicked on to the back post but Mark Sykes fluffed his lines and bundled an attempt wide.
Sunderland will be without Sadiki and Hume due to suspension, Robin Roefs will be out for 2-3 weeks and Traore could have a recurrence of his knee injury. Reinildo and Cirkin could return after injury.
Regis le Bris:
“Football is unpredictable but I am really proud of the players tonight. We are proud because we were really well-connected and showed great character. It was a tough game and intense - it was a question of key moments.”
“We were well aligned to seize our opportunities and it was an important win. Leeds played with an unusual set-up so we had to adapt our structure to press them. “The Lads did really well and I am impressed because we didn’t work on this.”
“We explained the ideas but then you have to execute. We struggled in the first 10 minutes but after that we were brilliant. I am proud of the flexibility of the squad and the way they worked together to manage this problem.”

Jon Brady:
"I've had some groups, I've managed over 500 games in my time and no matter how this goes from now to the end of the season this is one of the best groups I've ever had. It's incredible, they've worked so hard for each other they're so connected to each other.
"We're doing something in the moment, they're finding out each other's stories through their journey in life and it's really connecting them. It's very special."
“It will be the ultimate test but we are looking forward to it. Our pitch is tough to play on, but it’s tough for us to play on too.”

My two pence:
A great defensive performance at Elland Road, we rode our luck a bit and managed to get a win despite the referee. Vale striker Ben Waine will no doubt get a lot of verbal abuse every time he touches the ball after declaring his loyalties to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
VAR will be in use for this game.
I managed to wangle a ticket for this one, so hope to catch up with a few travelling fans and I won’t have to listen to the biased TNT commentary.
I’m going for a 2-0 away win.

. This is a huge game for us and your team looks good to me , I would like to see Rigg get some time on the pitch at some stage, but its all down to Reg and he has all our best wishes I am sure. This game could be tough one with the pitch and officials playing their part , despite that we should hopefully see two away wins in a row and get into the quarter finals of the FA cup, its been a while .
