Whoever he is, he's allegedly signing for us. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2076341/Leeds-sign-striker-Robbie-Rogers.html
It's a good question and probably one you will not get many answers to! Some of the American players have been pretty good and their national team (like it or not) are pretty decent too nowadays. You never know, he might turn out to be a decent signing. On the other hand............
huh, fair enough, i do think we do need a good striker but of the style of ross mccormack rather than Becchio or Keogh. This may mean that we are looking to get rid of forssell (who i dont think has been given a fair chance to be fair) and paynter (thank god). But this also will be interesting to see where Somma comes into play as well if he is signed. I would love to know his main attributes if anyone knows him, im sure we have people on here from the states and whatnot. Is he quick, good finisher, good in the air??? Anyway, all im really doing is asking the same questions as leeds-18....
By the way, here is his wiki page, only scored 13 goals in 97 appearances..... not really very good but hey ho http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_Rogers And he started at Heerenveen
As a fan of the U.S. National Team and a resident of Columbus, Ohio, where he played for the Columbus Crew for numerous seasons, I feel like I can give you pretty good insight into what you are getting. He has world-class speed. If you need proof (at 4:15 mark)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpPkmtAILr0 He's ambidextrous. He's right-footed, but good enough with his left he even takes corners left-footed sometimes and is often thought to be left-footed. He also can generally cross and shoot pretty well. Those are his positives. His negatives are that he only uses one or two moves so if he is being marked by a decent defender, that defender can usually figure him out in the first 15 or 20 minutes and shut him down. Also, I find him lacking in creativity and in a fast-paced game, his thought process can't keep up with his legs and he takes too long to make a decision. I generally find him to be a frustrating player because he showed so much promise when he was younger and has all the necessary tools to be great, but seems to have come back from Europe to MLS and stagnated. I hope this move to Europe is what he needs to get going. On a side note, how is he going to get a work permit? He's not a fixture for our national team. He's a fringe player at best who didn't make the world cup squad and has only seen time in a couple friendlies.

Does this signing have something to do with Mika Varynen who played for Herveneen or whoever this guy was at? or Nunez whos from the American football circuit?
All the big clubs were after him Yeovil Wtcombe Blackburn so he has been a very big capturemust have cost us 1k at least!
Just to note, although the Mail say he's a striker his wiki page says he's a winger and I've taken this from Right in the Gary Kelly's: "Little is known of Rogers over these shores but he leaves the MLS with a rising reputation. I’ve seen Robbie play a couple of times as I’ve followed the MLS for a number of years. Robbie is a skilful winger who possesses a good turn of pace and is not shy on taking on players." Possibly he's the Gradel replacement we've been waiting for? EDIT: Also apparently he's confirmed on twitter that he's been in England this month.
I saw that and he'd arranged to meet Stu Holden so the chances are hes up north! It also says on twitter he likes organising parties
He also said he was going to the Everton game. Could possibly have been at Blackburn aswell because he said he had decisions to make, but hopefully this Mail report is correct and he's chosen us.
'It is worth noting that Leeds United is often linked with just about anyone when the transfer window opens' haha this quote made me laugh my head off
Watched a couple of Youtube videos (I know, I know...) and he seems to be very similar to Gradel; quick, tricky and seems to be employed as a right footer cutting in from the left. Hopefully he sees a big club with a decent chance of promotion as a better opportunity than an average/small club who look almost certain for relegation.
Apparently not rated by American fans, gets quite a bit of stick. "My apologies to the Leeds faithful should he join their beloved club." "hmmmm. i thought Leeds WANTED to get promoted to the Premier League." "why would any 1st or 2nd division club want him??? have they not seen his play for the National team lately??" Although some think he's got potential, fast & pretty skillful. Worth a punt? Somma wasn't rated well in America either and Paddy had some bad games for his national team before coming to us. I'd say to Grayson go for it.
