I agree entirely PGF. In fact some people were leaving before Boro scored their 3rd. I just don't get it. You pay £20/30+ to watch a game so why only stay to watch 80% of it? The last 10/15minutes plus added time is often the most tense part of the game, as it was on Saturday. I bet not many Norwich fans went for the exit before time last year with their record of late goals. In fact I believe the club sold extra tickets for minutes 89 to 96!!!! A number of people were going out for half time at 40 mins so missed our 2nd goal - I know they might have picked it up on the tv screens underneath but more fool them.
Don't know what it is like now but 5 years ago my wife (as she was then) used to leave with her parents on 87 minutes (exactly) (strange family) to beat the traffic jams - I stayed behind and drove home myself later - I was not going to miss anything. The amount of goals they missed in a season was ridiculous but still they would never stay for the final whistle. Lots of others did it, such were the jams. I would get home about 1 hour later than them but it was well worth it
Well for the first time ever i will stick my hand up to leaving early, to be precise on 83 mins, however, there was a reason, had to get back home, get a bite to eat and then be back in Cardiff to watch Neil Morriseys rendition of ***in in Oliver, my good old mum arranged this and the whole family were summoned. So some of us did have a reasonable excuse for leaving early and i really didnt like doing it, as it was such a good game and by all accounts we could have knicked a point right at the end. So its a big Sorry and it wont happen again Sarge !
Agree with that Thai. The same people around me leave several minutes before the final whistle every game irrespective of the scoreline. Having said that, I thought there was a bit more movement than usual on Saturday.
Isawronny But did you have a note from your Mum to confirm you could leave early? I hope Morrisey wasn't behaving badly. I hear he introduced a Bob the Builder reference into Oliver - not sure if that was relevant.
I have no problem with fans leaving early. They pay their money to currently the most popular football club in Wales and that's all that matters.
Yes, you pays your money and takes your choice however when the team goes a goal down the last thing the players need (apart from losing another goal) is to see a stream of their supporters heading for the exits. It can't do much for morale and motivation. If people start leaving when 3 - 0 up then it is more understandable as "job done" but when losing the team need all the support they can get.
Blue! Watch any game up and down the country and it's a part of football.Whatever their reasons for leaving early they invest in their clubs.Much better than the stay aways and armchairs in my eyes.
ITIWRAN You're right of course but as a true footie fan I just don't get it. If you spend the money on your ticket, make the effort to get there, buy your programme, food and drink and support your team for, say, 80 minutes or so: - 1. You are selling yourself short and 2. You are deserting your team at the very time they need you. if you leave before then end. Did Isawronny walk out of Oliver 10 minutes from the end, would you walk out of a good film with a cliff hanger ending 10 minutes before the end? So why do it at football matches? I just don't get it - he says shaking his head in despair and bewilderment - although that could just be the dementia kicking in.
I imagine he stayed and asked for more My boy went to the toilet on 85 mins on Sat and decided to leave it because he said he couldn't get through due to the numbers watching the final few mins on the screens. I guess they hit the exits on full time to get ahead of the traffic. If I don't have to be anywhere after, I usually sit for an extra 5 mins and the end and let the exits clear... each to their own though
Blue! Perhaps a lot of the Ambos guests on Saturday were Blues supporters who left on the 80 thinking it was game over.
I always stay to the end, but as you say many watch it on the tv screens then sprint out of the ground to beat the traffic. The way I see it is that the 'extra' 20-30 minutes to get out and clear of the traffic are just part of my match day routine. 3-2 on Saturday did not deserve a 'fire drill' imo but if you've paid it's very much your choice. I don't boo or get on a struggling players back either.
as a paying customer, i'm entitled to leave whenever i wish, usually on 90 minutes to avoid the rush to get out of the stadium, i stay to just before the end if theres only a goal in it though
Of course he's wumming, did he post this topic on other boards because in his own words "Not having a go at Cardiff because it happens at a lot of clubs" no he posted it here not other clubs and yes of course he's having a go. He's a Jack, what other reason could he have for posting it here on the Cardiff board
Sussex! We know them so well m8.The article was received in a way which surprised PFG when we commented seriously to his question. Not getting the much anticipated bites, even with the goading of John,he decided to revive the article by his comment about the Boro game. Most of us saw right through his shallow comments. Good restraint fellow Bluebirds.
i left the Robbie Willams concert in Brisbane early, heard Angels then left, shame 20,000 other ppl had the same idea but it worked when i left Andre Rioux early, gotta pick the time and the game/concert cos i hate traffic. Robbie took my daughter and me an hour just to leave the ground. Each to his/her own i think.
re the wum, if it was, i gave an honest answer and i do think you will be promoted and honestly hope you are.
well i cant see anything in it to suggest its a wum, maybe you should stop trying to be offended every time a jack posts on here..
