QPR boss weighs up swoop for Arsenal and Tottenham stars - QPR - London 24 Emmanuel Frimpong, Arsenal QPR boss weighs up swoop for Arsenal and Tottenham stars Ian Cooper Tuesday, December 20, 2011 12:00 PM Warnock eyeing loan moves for Frimpong and Livermore Neil Warnock has identified Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong and Tottenham youngster Jake Livermore as two of his targets for the January transfer window. The QPR boss is scouring the top Premier League clubs for loan signings, with Frimpong and Livermore high on his list of targets as he seeks to increase competition for places in midfield. Frimpong broke into the Arsenal first team at the start of the season, but has made just eight appearances since then and is set to fall further down the pecking order once Jack Wilshere makes his expected return from an ankle injury in February. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger believes Frimpong has a bright future at the Emirates but wants the 19-year-old to gain first-team experience, while Warnock is keen to repeat the success Spurs defender Kyle Walker enjoyed while on loan with the Rs last season. âThe type of players who Iâm looking to loan are players who are trying to establish themselves at their current club, somebody who could get some experience at Premier League level that they might not get at their own club,â said Warnock. âIn the top six or seven clubs itâs very difficult for young players to get involved. There are four or five players at the top clubs who we may be able to get hold of. âYouâve got to look for players where you can benefit them and they can help you. If the club think they can benefit by the player coming to you then itâs an ideal scenario. âIf we can sign one or even two Iâd be delighted. Theyâll be last minute jobs, I think, where clubs canât sell a player and decide to get his wages off the bill. Weâve got to wheel deal. âI think we made Kyle Walker what he is today; we gave him the platform, the experience and the confidence. He went on and on from there.â Meanwhile, Tottenham midfielder Livermore has made nine Premier League appearances, and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp admitted this week that the 22-year-old has drawn the attention of top-flight clubs. âSome of the young kids can go out on loan now and play. It will do them good,â said the Tottenham manager. âIâve already had Premier League clubs wanting to loan Jake, but I donât know if I will loan him out because at the moment weâve only got Scott Parker, Luka Modric and Sandro.â Warnock is keen to avoid a repeat of the mayhem of the summerâs transfer window, and wants to get at least one of the deals wrapped up before his side travel to Newcastle on January 15. âWeâd like to get two or three players in before the Newcastle game,â he said. âWeâve got Norwich [on 2 January] and the FA Cup game against MK Dons, and then Iâd like have people in by the next league match.â Follow me on Twitter @QPRTimes iReader http://www.london24.com/sport/champ...oop_for_arsenal_and_tottenham_stars_1_1158170
What???? Ian Cooper seems to have missed out the already done deal on Defoe from his article - what a clown. Well he won't be winning CB's DVD will he.
I thought Frimpong was going to Hong Kong for a sing song with Ting Tong & King Kong and the odd game of ping pong. Guess I was wrong.
Agree Defoe and Bassong are 'Done done done deals' from our ITK's However i think the realists would imagine players likes these mentioned coming in. Of course the one from abroad as well.
