Was thinking over the weekend about strikers for next season.

Agbonlahor might be worth a punt, obviously not fancied by Houllier if Carew was getting a game ahead of him before going on loan then being played as a winger now with Bent's arrival for silly money Villa maybe looking to recoop some money back. Yeah he signed a new contract last year but still don't see him having an excessive fee and wages should be within our wage structure.
Fits in the right age bracket.
Not too bad in the air, lightening quick and has shown he's got an eye for goal.

Also, he's English, got Prem experience. We could find whoever we bring takes a season to bed down to the English game, with him we won't have that problem.

Anyone else think he might be a decent signing?

In these times of austerity wouldn't it be nice if the club could help out it's fans by purchasing players with short surnames?

What's wrong with the great British surname of Li? What about Lu? Hell; we'll spend our way towards paupersville of we sign players with surnames like Agbongalaho... Abglonga.... Gabby.

  4. I rate to him to be honest. Not as a total striker, but is a good attacking mid.

Maybe we could get a clause in his contract that he changes his name to Mr T or Ug or something.

Under O'Neill he played off Heskey or Carew quite well, getting the flick ons and beating last defender for pace almost Henry-esque (ok slight exageration)

I really like him. Was hoping he'd get picked for the World Cup and to be honest he should have been. That perfect shot of the guy in the crowd mouthing "why?" when Heskey was brought on in the 89th minute in the Germany match summed it up. Gutted he wasn't chosen, Capello definitely missed a trick there, along with Walcott obviously.

He'd probably set us back in excess of 10 million though, Villa would want to hang on to him, his wages will probably be too high, he's been unknown this season (injured at all? I have no idea if i'm honest) and isn't entirely consistent.

I would probably not say no though.

Think he's a decent striker, but I agree with Tash he's probably better as an attacking mid, or that's where I'd play him. Am I right in thinking he can play on the wing too? Can be employed in various positions, definitely worth a look in my opinion. Quick as **** as well, his pace is definitely something to be envied.

Some injuries but also sat on the bench while Houllier has played Heskey & Carew. He was on the bench at the weekend while Houllier started Robert Pires ahead of him and Petrov!! Houllier has played him on occasion but Agbonlahor happier playing up front by all accounts.

So he's just been a bench warmer all season then? I haven't really followed him as much this season if I'm honest.
Could be the second Villa player we rescue from Houllier then. Definitely worth a look in, good cover for mid, forward and wings (still guessing he's played on the wing by the way...please do correct me if I'm wrong)

Someone get Pardew's email! We'll send him a list of not606 approved players. haha

Yeah he's played on the wings under Houllier this year. And he's down as S/WG on Football Manager 2011

    The ever changing man.

Honestly believe we should pick him up, the guy can play ****ing anywhere.

I'd prefer Sturridge over Gabby but definitely not Bendtner.
Gabby seems to be quite versatile is all, striker, attacking mid and on the wings. Could be a decent acquisition. Each to their own though mate don't think we'll get him anyway!

I think Sturridge would be a possibly since hes now surplus at Chelsea, but Bolton would probably have first dibs you would think, Wenger probably wont let Bendtner go, cant see Agbon being allowed to leave Villa either with Heskey getting on (and hes ****)

Would be nice to bring in some unknown diamon in the rough from abroad like Tiote, could be an exciting summer either way.

Personally I think Chelsea with hang on to Sturridge. Drogba is more than likely on his way out, Anelka's getting on a bit, and Torres hasn't really done anything so far.
Wouldn't want Bendtner, though I do think his view of himself could be a good thing. If he naffs up, he never thinks it's his fault..therefore he'll never be on a downer. He won't get affected by bad performances and will go into every game with a positive view on...everything.
Wouldn't mind Gabby if it came down to it, but that's just because I'm a personal fan of his.
    Would prefer Gervinho

But definitely agree with you on the unknown player thing! Bit of a gamble but if it's another Tiote (possible quite literally...) then it would be excellent.
Would still like a proven player though, as well as a gamble 'diamond in the rough'

Bendtner all day long! I'm a big fan and think with a good run of games would be a brilliant forward. Him and Gervinho up front would be epic*!!

I think we need a "classic" centre forward. With Ben Arfa and Nolan both likely to be starting next season I can't see us playing anything over than a 4-5-1, and Agbonlahor can't play up front alone in my opinion. Llorente would be good, I thought Demba Ba looked quality yesterday as well.

Bendtner would be alright at the right price, people have been talking about £10m though, which is ludicrous in the extreme. He isn't worth half of that.

    I think Bendtner is easily a £10m player. If Carroll's 35 and Torres 50, Bendtner is 10!

Young (23), relatively good strike rate for playing time he's had, best footballing education available (ie. Arsenal), wont be on huge wages, and isn't a total twat! When he changed squad number from 20-something to 52 he said any fans that had a shirt with his old number he would pay for them to get it with the proper number.
