    I think the low crowds is why they wanted high-profile people like Gyan, Maradona, &co. The Americans did the same thing a few years back with Pele &co. It worked there to some extent so I think the UAE has the same idea.

    Bloody hell what an embarrassment. Is that really the heights of a 26 year old top African footballers ambition? To play in front of a few hundred people in a stadium that looks capable of holding maybe 20,000. Is the lure of a few grand more really worth that? He would have been a very wealthy man at SAFC and maybe even gone on to play for one of the top 4 clubs for a fortune if he had stuck it out. I'm not sure I would want a player back that has such low ambition tbh. I would rather have hungry young players that want to play in one of the most passionate and competitive leagues in world football. When the career is over and footballers look back on their careers, what will AG have to think about? Okay, a canny bank balance and **** all else. Spurning the chance to play in front of 40,000 or 400 for a few extra shekels? If he has £20m in the bank or 'only' £14m' is it that much different really at that level? What he wont have are very many memories worth talking about thats for sure.

    There are more people at Hetton for reserve games and youth games than over there and they look about as passionate as cardboard cut outs.
