This is where a move for Boyd makes even more sense. I think Celtic will want 6-8m for Hooper.

I wouldnt take Boyd even if he offered to play for free. He's absolute dog$hit!
He couldnt hack it in the Championship nevermind the Prem!

The blokes a b£llend aswell. He got barred from a Golfclub near where i live in Teesside for getting drunk and smashing the bar up! I dont think we need to be getting anymore player's like this!!

This may be true but for every bad story there may be a good. When he signed for Rangers he gave 50% of his signing on.fee to his previous club so they could improve the academy.

He got 12 goals in the league last year. Not terrible cconsidering the circumstance. If hed signed for forest at the start of the season he may well have got 25-30 goals.

Love all these journos plucking names from thin air...

NEWCASTLE, Everton, Sunderland and Wolves are checking on out-of-favour Bayern Munich star Danijel Pranjic.
The left-sided Croatia international, 30, also linked to Liverpool and Chelsea, wants first-team football and could be available for loan or on a full transfer in January

Don't know much about him but its no disgrace being kept out of a team by the likes of Ribery and Robben

Boyd - Not a chance, never rated him, anyone who scores goals in the Scotish Prem might aswel be banging them in on a Sunday in the park

Sharp - Looks tidy, good finisher, works hard, prolific at lower levels, I was one who wanted us to go for Shane Long, this might be a good alternative and for less wedge

Completely disagree about your assessment of the SPL id say its more Championship level/upper league one. The likes of Share Long and Grant Holt and Steve Morison are doing well having never played at Prem level before this year. Likewise Craig Makail-Smith and Ricky Lambert are scoring goals in the Championship this year having stepped up from league one. Im sure they'd do well in the Prem too. Jordan Rhodes at Huddersfield and Bradley Wright Phillips could both do well at a high level. The goals are the same size and a goalscorer is a goalscorer and people can step up.

For a free transfer I would take a punt on Kris Boyd.. His record at Rangers is something that can't be ignored because of a couple of bad seasons in bad teams.. Have a look at this link and you'll see what I mean. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/kris-boyd/leistungsdaten-detail/spieler_12729.html
As for Billy Sharpe, I don't really know enough about the lad, and I've never seen him play personally, but I've got a few mates that support championship teams and they all rate him and reckon at 3m it's a no brainer..

Bent and Gyan replaced by Boyd and Sharp? I don't think so. We have Wickham and Noble who are just as good as Boyd and Sharp. We don't need anymore bench warmers.

We need quality better than what we currently have.

Noble has scored bags of goals in the reserves which is a similar level to the championship. Wickham has looked decent when he has started, he has got 1 in 3 starts which is a similar record to Boyd in the EPL. To me they are at a similar level but Wickham and Noble will improve because they are much younger. Just my opinion mind, I am not MON and I will trust whatever he decides to do.

You cant honestly be serious about Boyd! Every Boro fan i know was over the moon to see the back of him!
He was probably Strachans worst signing. He would make Turner look like Usain Bolt.

He was available on a free and only a lesser known Turkish team came in for him, that says it all!

Welcome 2ur opinion bud but for me the decline of the Scottish League speaks for itself. Look previously talent like Laudrup, Van Hooijdonk, Larsson, Gascoigne, even the likes of Lennon/Keane although at the back end of their careers were class. But for me players like Jan Venegoor, Samaras Chris Boyd, Kenny Miller etc. all who were top scorers in the league recently are definately not the kinds of players I want at Sunderland at this point going forward.

Ive watched plenty of Scottish League football over the years and for me the level is dire. At most if anything lower Championship standard.

Okay everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in my opinion reserves is no where near the the championship. Reserves is full of kids and generally players who aren't getting games for first team and are on the bench don't even play in the reserves.

Ive got nothing against the Scottish league, but i agree with you the standard up there is pretty poor nowadays. The Championship is a much higher standard in my opinion!

I'd take Sharp, but not Boyd.

Boyd is so, so slow and would be so ineffective in a high paced league it's not even funny.

If we were to take Sharp it would have to be short-term deal IMO, literally like 6 months to see if he is any good. Don't wanna have another Kilgallon, do we?
