Say If you were a half decent player at a half decent club on fair wages and don't support Leeds, would you come to Leeds Utd when you know the reputation of the Chairman and the lack of any respect he has for the players. I don't think I would to be fair... I personally believe this is a massive factor in why we sign so few players over the Transfer period , not just because Bates is a miserly old git but because they see how as a club we handle contracts and players. I also understand the negatives towards Grayson as some of his tactical choices are so poor but this is not helped by some of the poor acquisitions and loan signings. Like I wrote at the start - would you come to Leeds? answers on a postcard...
If I was a half decent player at a half decent club on fair wages and don't support Leeds, why would I want to leave the club I was at? Not just for Leeds but for anyone (excluding Norwich of course). This is regardless of who the management team is. However, if I was mercenary and Leeds were offering a bucket load to play for them then perhaps a change of heart would be in order but of course that is not very likely with Uncle Ken running the show.
Ok, Thai, Let me re-phrase this question. If you were say.... playing for Burnley or Hull and was a decent player who wouldn't walk into the leeds united team but would more than likely get first team most of the time, and got payed similar or a little bit less wages. Who would you prefer to play for?
Is it early or do some people have to be so bloody petty... It was more a question to Leeds fans anyway as you lot at Norwich are doing just nicely... Lucky sods..
Well in answer to your question, yes. We have one of the best fan bases in the world, one of the best set of training facilities in the world along with the best stadium in the league and the current drive for promotion. I believe we would be paying similar wages to those i mentions in my other post (Burnley and Hull if you cant be bothered) but probably not as high as say the likes of Cardiff, Leicester and West Ham. We're not too far off the premier league, I can only see it as being a maximum of 2-3 years before we are there (but i bloody hope it is sooner). Along with one of the best up and coming managers despite my current criticisms of his. I honestly do not understand why there wouldn't be a certain amount of draw to us, infact the only reason a player would go elsewhere imo is a higher chance of playing in the prem earlier or already in the prem or the obvious higher wages thing
Yeah I know The point I was trying to make was.......If the team I loved from an early age wanted me, I would probably go to them regardless of the current situation.
If I wasnt a fan of Leeds united and a offer came in from say Leeds, West Ham and southampton, all the same terms, as it stands Leeds would be the last club I join
I accept there are no real guarantees in life other than death and taxes ( except Thailand, we don't pay income tax ) I would want to play week in, week out if possible so that would probably be Leeds out of the equation, however the offer would tempting but there would be other factors to consider. As I said above, if mercenary - the highest bidder would be boss. If a 'good guy' I would have to think twice about joining Leeds in the present set of circumstances. Far too much unrest at Elland Road these days and it will probably remain that way as long as Leeds are not back in the PL. The only team I would go to with just 1 question would be Norwich and the question would be....where do I sign
I don't think this season but the season after With players like Bradley Johnson, Anothony Pilkington and Grant Holt in your team you a punching way above youre ability.
If we keep Paul Lambert he may well find some other little diamonds to keep us punching above our weight. He seems to have a knack of doing that
Theyve spent more money than you lot but my god they have bought some ****e haha Jay Emmanuel Thomas is awful
Only goes to prove what many have said before, and the same applies for Leicester - money does not always = success
