As a kid I used to go to Rovers. Not in the slightest bit bothered either way now and haven 't been for twenty odd years. My cousins lad is at the academy at Hull and has been selected for England U16. If he makes it all the way to the first team I might start going to watch Hull if he gets me some free tickets.
As an East Hull lad much prefer Rovers - Dull FC supporters just jealous of us and most of them have nothing good to say about us whereas Rovers supporters don't seem to possess that hatred/envy. In any event this a football message board and to discuss eggchasing on it is akin to heresy in my book.
Well if Ull are playing, iwant them to win.If Rovers are playing,i want them to win. When they play each other,i don't mind who wins. That we all hate Ull,chant that Rovers do is so dumb. Rovers are Ull,so what the **** does that mean ? It's only a river ffs !
I had a trial at Ionians once and broke my collarbone in the first fifteen minutes, it put me off rugby for life.
Union was the only option at Hull and East Riding senior schools in my day and quite right too, proper game. I can't think of any posh kids playing in it then though. The names are funny, given we live in Kingston upon Hull. Hull Hull v Football Club.
How old are you ? League has been played in schools in Hull for forty odd years. I have made that number up but I'd have thought it would be at least forty years. I played both codes and can say as a centre/stand off league is far more physical than union. No kidding but I once broke my collar bone going over for a try whilst playing in the centre for the school team at league. When I told the teacher I had sustained what I thought was a serious injury his compassion was overwhelming. He told play full back for the last ten minutes. I hate to say it but I was a far better rugby player than I ever was a football player. Made county standard at U19 level at rugby , nowhere near that at football.
20-30 years ago, union was the main game at Hull and East Riding senior schools. They tried us on league at juniors, but few found it worth doing, so we played bulldog instead.
