Isn't this thread about what SAF said about Spurs having a chance of winning the EPL and playing the best football so far this season.Or are you questioning what your teams manager said or did you just not bother to read the article?

He doesn't actually support Utd. And he does love to stir it a bit... ;)

You're right, this "mong" (what are you 90 years old - who says mong anymore?) thought Old Trafford was in Salford. It appears it is a few hundred yards from Salford, but some way outside Manchester.

You said this the other day, where do you get 7th biggest city when in fact it is the third?

Or do you just make a habit of making things up, like me losing arguments on here for instance?

Pointless wind up. Sad. So very, very sad.

Pretty sure he said the 9th largest city the other day.

Numbers obviously not his strong point?

    English districts by population

Rank District Population Type Ceremonial county
1 Birmingham 1,036,900 Metropolitan borough, City (1889) West Midlands
2 Leeds 798,800 Metropolitan borough, City (1893) West Yorkshire
3 Sheffield 555,500 Metropolitan borough, City (1893) South Yorkshire
4 Cornwall 535,300 Unitary authority Cornwall
5 Bradford 512,600 Metropolitan borough, City (1897) West Yorkshire
6 County Durham 510,800 Unitary authority County Durham
7 Manchester 498,800 Metropolitan borough, City (1853) Greater Manchester

Add in London (London Districts included individually) and take out Cornwall and Manchester is 7th

Districts do not equal cities. If we're going by districts, then the Metropolitan borough of Manchester is bigger than any of the London districts. City of London, population 11,700.

    Better luck next time <ok>

Manchester is the third largest city in England by size, always has been and always will be. No amount of messing around with districts or councils will change that.

    Try harder.

Well, Spuds fans have so little to celebrate that I guess the size of the city they are based in is the only thing they really have to be proud of. Still, it does give them yet another edge over Liverpool <ok>

Its a common fact that London is the biggest and most important city in the UK, its the only city that really matters when it comes down to it.

Hold on, I was aiming that comment at both sets of fans!! Does it really matter whether Manchester is the 3rd, 7th, 9th biggest city?? What has that got to do with football?? That's just Ensil, when he runs out of a decent argument he becomes petty and pedantic!!

This is a football forum, not a geography forum!!

Except in football terms, where London hasn't really mattered at all for a good decade now. Unless you're talking about Hammersmith and Fulham of course...

I know - I was just having a bit of a wum of my own ;) I also thought it was funny Ensil came up with a website to prove his "argument", and that site comes with a link at the top that says London is not the biggest city in the UK <laugh>
