i thought rooney would be made an example of first thing monday morning?

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/887199/rooney-escapes-fa-punishment?cc=5739

muppets on here (arsenal fans, newcastle fans, and nohlwoman) wouldn't know the FA's rules if it came and slapped it's dick across their chops.

a <laugh> is also in order for the deluded magpies, who have all thrown their newcastle brown ale out of their prams because he's "gotten away with it"

Do you not think it shows a sheer lack of consistency by the FA how they can ban Joey Barton and Mike Williamson but not Rooney, even though these were similar incidents? (

For the same reason they didn't ban Gerrard (elbow on Welbeck), Malouda (elbow on Rocha which hospitalised him) and Martins (elbow on Vidic in 2009 which left him bleeding). The FA rules encourage inconsistency by refusing to allow them to overrule the ref if he's made the wrong decision in a case like this. Even though teams can have bans rescinded if the ref applied the rules wrongly in that case. Nothing to do with Utd or any other team, just plain stupidity in the rules.

Although I agree with four2three1 - don't go boasting about it jordan. We all know Rooney was lucky to stay on the pitch.

Fair play mate - I know the bitters have been out in force (a least five bitter posts deleted about this already!)

Due to the angle the referee was at he couldn't see the brutality of the incident... therefore Rooney should have been punished.

The same lack of consistency exhibited when Rio got a lengthy ban but a City youth - who also missed a drug test - got a slap on the wrist?
Or when Fergie got an FA charge for saying a ref wasn't fit enough, but Rafa Benitez got away with suggesting that one was blind, and another too young?
    That kind of inconsistency?

Serious abuse of power, a Man United player has cheated and gotten away with it, any post implying that though will be deleted.

Probably. But the ref says otherwise, so the FA won't do anything. Like I said before, Rooney isn't the first player to have gotten away with it and he won't be the last.

And I can't believe the BBC has rolled out John "I kick my own teammates in the head" Hartson to comment on violent play. Pot. Kettle.

Apart from all the posts by United fans admitting that Rooney was lucky to stay on the pitch and should have been banned. Don't act like a child, you know why your post was deleted. I'll give you a clue...it was cos of the four letter word... <doh>

I was just referring to inconsistency on the pitch. But yeah, I agree the FA is inconsistent and possibly corrupt. I say corrupt as I am not aware of a player been let off from "smaller" teams (Teams without the status of Man U, Liverpool etc), like I said I don't know of these incidents so I might be wrong here.

I agree that Rooney isn't the first and won't be the last. However he should still have been banned, as should Gerrard after his on Welbeck.

The rules regarding 'the referee seeing the incident need to be cleared up'. As a referee may see an incident but due to bodies in the way or position he might not see the actual incident, therefore no action will be taken. Just annoying that -jordan- seems to be proud Rooney got away with it whereas everyone else is understanding of anybody elses view.
