Simon Grayson put together a lot of their promotion squad although he did do Wonder's to get them up.
Their currant team cost more than ours,so how much higher are they.<doh>
ps if he had been our manager, took us up and back down,You would now be shouting sack him.<whistle>

Yeah and he finished 19th with them?
Do you go to the matches mate? I'd be absolutely amazed if Grayson turns this around. If he does I'll take my hat off to the lad and admit my mistake. But our position is a false one I'm afraid.
The whole feel round Elland Road is flat and dispondant. Style of play is ****e. Atmosphere is terrible.

The feel round Elland Road is flat and despondent because our fans are lazy and refuse to sing even when other people start chants. Because we're a club supported by 50-year-old men. Nothing against them, but we've priced out almost all young, enthusiastic fans who want to generate an atmosphere from being able to attend most home games. Because Bates has driven our most fanatical fans into only wanting to go to aways. Not because Grayson's doing badly.

I won't continue this cyclical argument any further, but honestly, Grayson's worked wonders on this budget. He's forced by our wage cap to buy quantity over quality and his panic loans can easily be derided, but they haven't done the club any harm, have they? We just need money and we'll have better players to create a more entertaining playing style - and I still don't think ours is bad by the way - it's just that we'll obviously look worse when we lose to well-drilled teams.

I'm only a lad but when I have the money I go, only missed 3 home games this year.
Atmospheres individually have been worse, but the only ones I recall as being good are Millwall and probably Blackpool, as the support at 0-5 was ridiculous, credit to all there.
Agree no youth in the stands is playing a part, but in all honesty things are worsr and deeper than that. Where do you personally think the problem lies?

seen lots of managers sacked over the years m8,and teams ripped apart by new managers.young Players got rid of for not being good enough then becoming great players as they matured..Dennis Irwin,Andy Linighan,Went on to be legends for scum and Arsenal. We pretty much gave them away.
Eddie Grays team was torn apart, most went on to be very good players for other teams [our loss].Teams take time to build.Think Graysons doing ok,with very little money.Lack of Atmosphere, poor crowds etc,is down to bates and his pricing policies, often the most passionate fans are working class with limited money, these people are being priced out for the benefit of the prawn sandwich brigade.

In terms of the team, I think the problems are a) lack of funds to buy the best players b) no leadership c) no major grit and experience d) Grayson's tactics are sometimes amazing but sometimes poor e) crap coaching on the training ground and f) players only feel motivated to press the opposition on big occasions.

But we shouldn't forget we're still in a playoff position with some winnable games coming up away from home. If we shoot back up the table, all this will be forgotten until the next time we have a mini-slump and we suddenly become overly analytical again.

I say wait and see. Anyone can lose to anyone in this division and you'll be hard-pressed to find too many fans who say their team always play entertaining and consistent football. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything consistent in Division Two! Derby, Barnsley, Burnley and Palace is a period where I think we could well take 8-10 points. Hopefully our little trip to North London will be good fun too. Let's have some Christmas/New Year optimism!

    Leeds-18 :)

I take your point on the team being torn apart. I'm not one calling for Graysons head, but his weaknesses are being exposed and exploited more recently and personally see Holloway as a decent replacement, should Grayson walk.

From now to the end of January is massive. If we are still in the play-offs come the Barnsley game, we sign the right players, then I feel a play-off place is achievable. These next few months will be massive for Grayson. It will test his transfer record and see how he reacts to what have been shocking performances of late (Barnsley, Watford, Reading).

But hey! Its Christmas! Were in the play-offs! We have a great cup tie to look forward too and the welcoming of our January signings. ;)

Grayson's a talented, promising young manager in need of more support, both financially and from his own staff.

I'd say he's been reasonably backed in fairness. January will reveal alot about the club, transfer targets, judgement of targets from Grayson, patience of Bates and willingness to spend a fair bit.

But until were back on the pitch, have a Merry Christmas mate! :)
