So, the Swans could be looking at book door entry into Europe! Keep up the good (clean) work, you Swans!! How so you ask? Being top of the fair play league, that's how!

I hope we dont go There TBH. It would cripple our small squad and give them hardly any off season, apparently There is only a little bit of money to be Made and thats if you reach the latter stages . Bad idea for a small club like ours but good media exposure i guess

Surprised to see Norwich in 4th! We have had lots of cards this season. I was starting to think we would a get a 'dirty team' label <laugh>

I hope Brendan won't let the team and supporters down by assaulting the fourth official on a regular basis...

I think you need to show the up to date table actually, the one in the attachment is from over a month ago, Swansea are now in 4th place behind Spurs QPR and Man U

If you're looking at this one,

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/fairplay/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739

..it's only team discipline and not the official Fair Play League which covers far more than just cards and fouls.<ok>

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play.html [It's obviously not up-to-date yet].

those who do not want us to play in Europe..<doh> WHAT!!!!! I have heard it all now, ask any player if he has the chance to play in europe would he take it.........this is what they play football for.....its to play at the highest level possible and what has the size of the club got to do with things.......Absolutely nothing, If neath, llanelli and other smaller clubs can enjoy European football then so can we.......i have never heard of such rubbish involving football in all my life, If we should get a chance then we will grab it with both hands and rightly so.....<ok>

Yes players want to play at the highest level but the competition they go in to via this route is hardly that is it?? Do not see the competition being anything better than the FA Cup, only has a bunch of foreign teams some people have never heard of before competing (or in some cases - just taking part).

any competition in europe is an honor to play in and a feather in the clubs cap, I'm lucky im old enough to have seen my club play in europe, its what clubs aspire to achieve and its much bigger than any domestic cup in any league in europe....

My my now we have some fans sniffing at European competition. Unbelievable.

Superswan is right. Ever heard of glory? We're a small Club that most football fans around the world have never heard of before this season. Even then, the Prem is only part of the story and let's face it is a League where we will never get top 8, at least not any time soon. It should be an honour to play in a European competition, particularly where anything can happen. I'm sure Rodgers would agree, as would most of the players who not that long ago were in a few divisions below dreaming of what we could achieve.

Like SS99 I remember Panathanaikos at the Vetch. Seem to remember they brought their flares. No, not the trousers. Bring it on i say!

You all agree it's a poxy and laughable way to qualify though, right?

Hope you will agree to disagree.

I too have witnessed Norwich playing in Europe and we were lucky enough to beat Vitesse Arnhem & Bayern Munich before losing out to Inter Milan. Those were the days before the Champions League became a competition for the top 3 or 4 clubs in each league. A time when lots of other 'big' European teams would play in the Cup Winners Cup & UEFA Cup.

Since the 'watering down' of the European competitions (largely because of the Champions League format) I do not look upon the Europa League as anything more than a European FA Cup. I am not saying I would not like to see Norwich take part in it, of course I would but would find it hard to drum up any kind of real enthusiasm playing the likes of Rennes, FC Metalist Kharkiv, Vorskla Poltava, Hapoel Tel-Aviv etc... Same as it is hard to get excited about a home draw to Burnley in the FA Cup but if it's Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea etc it is different.

There are of course some big teams in that competition but it just is not the same as 'the good old days' for me.

Yeah, but if it works! I couldn't care less how we qualify... if someone offers us a place in Europe it's got to be taken. Interestingly, I saw that Blackpool would have been in Europe, not Fulham, if Holloway hadn't scored bottom of the league on "Officials respect towards match officials". Gutted, son!

Thought I'd bump this with a link to an updated table after 19 games. Swansea are still top :)

We had no bookings against Arsenal, but we did pick up 4 against Villa (how I don't know!)... hopefully we'll still be top at the end of the season!
