It's hard to dispute the fact that Sagna is the best right back in the league. Maybe Ivanovic and Richards come close but Sagna is still better! At Centre Back, most rival fans know about the quality of Vermaelen. They may not know about how good Koscielny is but they will soon - He's gone from being average to top class in roughly a year. And at left back, Santos has been transformed by Wenger. One on One he's great. He may not be the quickest defender but we play much better with him on the pitch; he's an excellent attacker as well as a great left back. And what other defence compares to Sagna Vermi Kossy Santos Let's look at the other 'Big 6' clubs. Liverpool: Johnson < Sagna Agger < Vermi Carragher/Skrtel < Kossy Santos = Enrique Chelsea Ivanovic = Sagna Luiz < Vermi Terry < Kossy Cole = Santos Tottenham Walker < Sagna King = Vermi Gallas < Kossy Assou-Ekkoto < Santos United Rafael < Sagna Vidic = Vermi Jones < Kossy Evra = Santos City Richards = Sagna Kompany = Vermi K Toure < Kossy Zabaleta < Santos ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would have to say that if we had THIS defence in previous seasons we could have won a trophy, but unfortunately it's taken this long for us to get it, and now our attack is weaker!
You seriously think that santos is good in one-on-one situations? Are you being serious, he is the weak link and i would play gibbs over him any day. Yes sagna is the best right back in the epl but we cannot say that our defence is even top 4 quality yet because we have not had a fully fit defence, also when sagna and gibbs come back kos will probably be out the team even though he has been outstanding for us recently. It really is a stupid comment to make to say that our defence is the best in the epl because right now it isn't.
Do you really believe that your 4 defenders are as good or better (individually) than all the other defenders in the league. Leaving out Spurs (as I am probably as biased and deluded as you are) I would say Kompany, Richards, Vidic, Jones and Cole are better than your alternatives.
Here is a neutral opinion... Enrique is better than Santos by some distance and it was a huge mistake by Wenger to not sign Enrique, Santos is average at best. Vermaelen, when fit, is the second best centre back in the league...just behind Kompany. Koscielny's rise reminds me very much of Coloccini's. They were both ****e in their first seasons and are now both up there with the best in the league. As you say people don't realise this, because they cling on to how they were when they first arrived in the Premiership. Sagna is a top class right back and is, in my opinion, the second best in the league. Richards is the best, but only just. For me Man City have the best defense, followed by yourselves or Chelsea. It is only just better than Tottenham's and Man Utd's though. But none of them are ever fit!
Vidic, Cole, Evra , Richards, Kompany, King (when fit) should all be considered better than what we have.

Nah, see, before I used to be really negative about our team, but ever since Piskie told us all to be more positive, I thought 'Yeah, he's right!' and started to be really positive about Arsenal, the great35t club in the world!
Yes well done, Terry slipped leaving RVP through on goal. Anyway what does that have to do with what you said? My point was, you do not, by some distance, have the best defence in the league. The fact you put Santos equal to Cole just proves that. I'd have Cole, Evra, Baines, Enrique and Ekotto over Santos.
Actually when everyone's fit, Newcastle have the best in the league. We did have until Steven Taylor got injured and Coloccini had to be taken off also. Before our CB's suffered injuries we conceded the least amount of goals.
I'd take Colo over any of their CB's except Verm but apart from that I disagree. Your defence work well together and I think that was key.
I think Enrique is miles better than Santos as is Zabaleta. That said he deserves more time to get used to the league and lose a bit of weight too.
Arsenals defence is dire. Worst outta the top 7. Even liverpool have a better defence..... Even Chelsea have a better defence when both Terry and Luiz are playing (who are both ****e).
