In the Republic? What are they? The BBC is broadcast worldwide and people from pretty much every nationality in the world live in the UK. It's still paid for by the British people and is primarily aimed at the local populace, as is any national media outlet. I'm sure that an Italian broadcasting company would put a similar spin on their version of the same story, for example.
Irish Mirror (and Irish Sunday Mirror), plus the Irish People. I recall seeing The Mirror on sale when I was in Dublin a few years back, but the odds are that it's only really on sale in Dublin and Cork. If anything, the Italian (and Spanish, and French, and German) sporting press is far more even-handed, as it isn't driven by jingoism like the "British" (read: English) press is. And as you said, the BBC is broadcast worldwide, so there's no excuse for any stories slanted for the Little Englanders.
I supported playing reserves--but I'd rather Spurs were still in it, still playing reserves. It's been good experience for some, and gives others more of a chance to play.
Gentlemen. What is the point?Harry is not interested in the EL so why bother to accept an invitation (if one comes). Give it to someone who cares.........
Let's be honest, our reserves weren't good enough to get out of the group stages so wouldn't be good enough to get much further anyway. Harry would have to play the top players and he doesn't want to do that. We are better off fighting for top 4 and hopefully get the FA cup as a bonus.
Honestly, I think our reserves would've got through - but we didn't play them, we played our youth team. If we had more of our first team squad available (notably Dawson, Huddlestone, Kranjcar) we would've got through, because we would've got more than a point from the two PAOK games.
I agree completely, Croydon. Our first XI is Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Parker, Modric, Bale; van der Vaart; Adebayor. Had we been able to select Cudicini/Gomes; Corluka, Dawson, Gallas, Rose/Bassong; Kranjcar, Huddlestone, Sandro, Pienaar; Defoe, Pavlyuchenko for the group games, then we'd have probably gone through. We'd have still had the likes of Falque, Dos Santos, Kane, Townsend, Carroll and Livermore in reserve, but they ended up starting a lot of games, instead.
