Well done to Jonjo on his 'Young Player of the Month' award - comes across as a modest, amusing and level-headed young man in this interview - and mentions us, too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16189339.stm I always said that IMO he'd make it to the highest level - it's been pretty stop/start with Liverpool but with so many midfielders out, he's got a chance for a pretty long run now - good luck to him.
i got free sports at moment and watched the liverpool res last night and the co commentator said shelvey has returned to the club from his loan spell does anyone know if this is correct?quite some good players on view like cole and diouf worth a look at and hansen the gk p,s eccleston played as well
hansen just said he played very well good luck on him hope he gets an england call up whats the latest on their youngsters ????
Just watched the highlights - lovely flick from Jonjo to set up the first goal and he looked up for it throughout.
You should have got more for him than you did. Look at what Sunderland got for Henderson. I rate Shelvey as a better player, myself.
Wherewereyou, our club were in a desperate financial position when we sold him. We could probably have got up to £10million for him considering the calibre of the clubs chasing him and how promising a player he was/is.
Charlton's my local club, mate. I was there Saturday. I know what the financial situation was, but I still think you were shafted. Unless there were some contractual implications that I was not aware of?
Ahh sorry mate! Umm no contract situation that I know of, if anything I'm pretty certain Jonjo signed a contract a few months prior to leaving so that we could get a decent () transfer fee.
We were shafted, but then the board also bent over. It looks as if we might be in line to receive the full £3mil (whoope de woo), as Kenny has always spoken highly of Jonjo, and it was actually him who signed him.. not Hodgson. Solid game y'day. AH- completely right about his shooting, but then it shows confidence so it's good to see him not be scared about having a go. Remember he tried a few halfway line shots for us which were questionable (and for 'pool last season).
Watched the game yesterday and thought JJ did very well. I thought he was unlucky not to get a few more passes when he had got himself into good positions. Guess his colleagues are not used to him yet. More effectiove that Kuyt I's say.
can anyone put the record straight on the shelvey situation was told he was out of contract and could have walked for nout why murray did a good deal sell him for that amount am i right all hell on this ?
i think at the time if memory serves me correctly we so messed up financially and excepted the first deal that came in for him what i heard if that deal hadnt gone through then the club could have been into administration it was that close so the deal took us up to the takeover if prem club could got 10 for him u know he will play in euros 2012 if he keeps that form up sun
There is no doubting we were in a poor financial situation - but I think we could have negotiated better. Also a bit annoying considering we rejected an approach the summer before from Chelsea where they had constructed a deal that would have apparently exceeded £5mil.
WE COULD BLAME THE PLAYER FOR THAT I DONT THINK HE FANCIED CHELSEA as i think he was a massive liverpool fan if im correct why he went to anfield
he was always asking me how liverpool where doing if they where playing in the morning and we kicked off at 3
most of the time when saw him had his mobile to his ear in conversation with a few people i dont think he got on well with parkinson
It was good that he rejected Chelsea.. but I'm sure if the club said that we needed the money that badly then it was the best for all involved. The worst thing about the deal was not having JJ for the run in or play offs as we accepted the deal in March! We got shafted, but 50% of it was the board.
