Love it, when they start putting up the bait photos you then know you got them beat

For a team that averages less then 1pt a game they not even had a bubble to bust unless it was the one back in July when all there new signings were taking them into Europe.
9-1 might be the record score , but 5-1 could be the biggest one they ever see.

So in all your superior knowledge and wisdom, do you think you'll finish above us this season?

With a 13 point gap currently? Yes.

That gap will fluctuate wildly, but with both teams having to face the same opponents at some point, it will all even out by the end of the season.

Both teams had very similar finishes last season, both teams have strengthened in the summer, and both teams will strengthen again in January, yet we've had a far superior start.

Gaining the same number of points as us throughout the rest of the season (despite having Man City still to face) PLUS gaining more than 13 points to overtake us (5 wins more than us?) seems like a little too much to ask in my view.

But with Messiah tantrum at the helm, surely they will never drop points to a team outside the top 6 again?

You can bookmark it all you want.

If you're not an idiot, then you should be able to respect that others will have an opinion which is (even you must admit) based on fairly sound logic. You just have to look at the table to see how much of a tall order it is. It's not a wum. It's just a fair opinion which must sound somewhat reasonable to even the most biased of mackems.

If we kept our 3-0 scoreline and won against West Brom, we would have finished above you last season, and that's WITHOUT a 13+ points advantage at this stage of the campaign. Pardew is a good manager, O'neill is a good manager, and both teams have strengthened in key positions.

Unless we have a stupendous implosion (which looks unlikely at the moment as we're still fighting hard in every game), I see no reason to believe that you guys will match our points tally AND gain an extra 4-5 wins. If you have some evidence to the contrary, please feel free to share.

You're as likely to sell as you are to buy. If Colo, Krul, Tiote and Ba have good offers put in, Ashley will sell one or two of them imo. Where does that leave you?

Can they be so easily replaced? Arfa is showing us he was just a one season (4 game actually) wonder and the luck has run out. All the talk of Cabaye being the next Messi have gone quiet and you are a one man scoring team.

We will strengthen next month and we will get better from the rubbish we have been so far. You lot have already peaked very early and there's a coming way to go yet.

We shouldn't catch yet but if we did I'd piss myself laughing after all the ****e you lot have been spouting all season.

That leaves me sitting here listening to you come up with theories which have absolutely no merit whatsoever? I said evidence. I didn't say ideas plucked out of thin air.

Carroll, Nolan, Barton and Enrique all wanted to leave (apart from Barton, but he was a ****). We have yet to sell anyone who didn't want to leave.

You're just as likely to sell as we are, especially if someone wants out (Sessegnon doesn't look too happy lately).

    - Ben Arfa is still getting back to speed after being out for a year with a double leg break.
    - Cabaye is ****ing awesome.

    So will we.

    No we haven't.

Good job it's unlikely then, isn't it.

Anyway, who's next? Does anyone have any SOUND theories or is it just more doommongering ideas plucked out of thin air which, in reality, could affect both teams just as equally?

But we're both selling clubs and modern footballers are easily swayed by money, which both clubs have a bit of but neither are prepared to chuck money at players the way other clubs can. What if Sessegnon gets a better offer in the same way that Bent and Gyan did? Very few players are safe in the North East (i.e. Shola and Titus), especially ones that are having half decent seasons. You can thank Bruce for your poor start as it hasn't given your players much chance to impress anyone by the January window!

O'Neill knows that he's on a bit of a budget now to balance Sunderland's books, and that probably also involves a bit of 'buy to sell' if he wants to craft together his own team. It could well be a surprising window.

Hmmm ive only read the last page as im not going to trawl through pages of tit for tat however I think I get the picture.

Personally has Newcastles bubble burst, probz not. The things that have got them where they are, good balance in midfield, a striker and a goalkeeper very much on form and good never say die spirit havent just gone away overnight. The one thing which has tho is the defensive stability and continuity which for me was a massive factor in their good start.

I cant stand the man but the Taylor/Colo partnership is clearly an effective one and so if anything was going to cause a minor slide down the table (which lets be fair was going to happen at some point) its that.

For me their still well on the way to a top half finish, for us id say aim for anything between 10th-12th, build in the summer and then come back stronger and aim top half.

Remember when Hull were talking about being in Europe after a great start from coming up to the Premier league, then next it was Blackpool who were doing great until about Xmas. Anyone see any similarities here?

If Fat Mike gets his way in January they could lose Tiote, Krull and Collocini with Alan Partridge being given a fraction of the money received.

I don't want them relegated, just to finish below us all the time like the last few years.

Take it from me, it hasn't. I've watched all of our games, and the same fight has been there which we've had in every other game. Against Norwich we had a big injury problem, and against Swansea it was just one of those days which every team has, where on another day you would win by 3-0 or 4-0, but on that day it just doesn't fall into place. No biggie.

I agree. It will cause us to drop a few positions. However, we're looking for a new CB in January it seems, so hopefully it will only be a drop of a few positions instead of a genuine slide. We've even been linked to Samba as Pardew apparently wants an EPL proven CB to become effective in defence as quickly as possible.

Yet again, you're just plucking ideas out of thin air and assuming (based on nothing) that Mike is eager to sell all of our best players. Please bear in mind that the guy isn't an absolute idiot. He would understand the consequences of selling 3 of our absolute key players without any replacements. Remember when we ignored offers for Coloccini in the Summer and rejected a £30mill offer for Carroll before he wanted to go? I didn't think so.

As I said, the players sold last season, apart from Barton, wanted to go. Let's wait and see what happens when an offer comes in for a player who wants to stay, as none of us actually know what will happen.

As I mentioned mate i dont think the bubble has burst, though speaking from a Sunderland point of view we've been consistently creating chances all season and simply not scoring/putting teams away due to our strikers a) not being good enough and b) not on form. If Ba gets injured/off form/bad luck etc for me he carries a big load of the responsibility, and then even though the other dept's may be working well as we can testify to if you cant score u cant win.
