Now playing for Hayes and Yeading....ouch! www.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/west-lond...but-as-united-secure-a-point-113046-29970556/
Strewth, I thought he'd gone back to France. There's a tenuous connection with Charlton in the Hayes side - Tom Soares brother plays for them. I think I'm right in saying the last time Moots played for us, Soares was playing too. Wonder if he put in a word?
That really is a big ouch... So much potential wasted. Hopefully he's one of those players who has to drop down to the Non-League scene for a temporary basis just like Nick Bailey had to do when he left Fulham (though cant see Moots working in a Bookies lol!)
Four years ago he was captain of the French u-21 team. He is only 25 now. Just imagine what a pair of full-backs we would have had with him and Kelly Youga (who is still only 26) had things not gone terribly wrong with both of them.
Have to admit after seeing how well Rhoys Wiggins and Chris Solly have developed I'm pretty happy with the two we've got
He'll bounce back, bags of talent just had a bit of a ego and attitude problem... Good place for him to regain his full fitness and catch the eyes of football league clubs again
When he first played for us against Scunny in Champ. I thought "hello we've got a bit of a player here" then he got injured in the next game (I think) and we never saw the same potential again
I am genuinely surprised at the fondness everyone has for him. For me, he epitomises everything that was wrong with our playing staff at that time. Didn't he try to attack one of our youth players? Definitely a wasted talent in my eyes, but no-one can argue that his 'can't be bothered' attitude hasn't brought it on himself.
He had a fight with Harry Arter in training apparantly. But Arter has always seemed to me to be a mouthy little runt, so I doubt his side of events was reliable. Even so, does a spur of the moment fight in training really justify him being dropped from the team, given no squad number the following season, being told he has no future at the club then falling into the footballing wilderness, only to sign for a team 4 or 5 leagues below where he was capable of playing about 3 years ago? Add to that the fact he's probably on a wage now of about 1% of what he was on at Charlton (though I have no sympathy RE footballers wages).
Wasn't that it was a fight, it was that Arter had just returned from serious injury and Moots went after his achilles out of anger. Could have ruined a players career.
People have psychological problems. Fortunately young people sometime overcome them. I don't wish any player harm. I even have sympathy for Josh Wright having to grow up in a family like his. If Moutaouakil "does his time" in the lower leagues and rebuilds some sort of worthwhile career then I wish him well.
I still think he would if attitude allowed make ideal cover for us. I saw the game against Scunny and he was suberb. Bradley Pritchard came from Yeading I believe.
56years, I do agree, though I believe he would upset the harmony a little bit in the squad. There was a NewsShopper article a while back in which he was interviewed and practically said he was desperate for a second chance at The Valley and just wanted to play football again (sadly, great emphasis on the word desperate). Chris Powell said no however.
Interesting to note that Hayes and Yeading are playing Fleetwood tonight... ...And Moots doesnt even make the bench? Lacking fitness perhaps?
I used to really rate him, think he got injured in our game away to Stoke, after which Danny Mills came in so he never got a run in the team. I remember when we lost away to Scunthorpe after a mistake by him and Pardew completely victimised him for it, awful management.
