The way Maynard is going at the moment i dont think he is worth more than a million. Let Phesta have him. Pavlychenko and Carlton Cole hot rumours for Fulham in Jan. Zamora to Villa or Sunderland. The merry-go-round is starting to turn.
John, if B.S. helps get City promoted it will be the best bit of business since Paul Mckenna. £3m quid is nowt when you look at the tv money on offer just by getting to the PL. I think the Best thing in our favour is the manager and who it is. end of.
depends on who you listen to. but this rumour is getting stronger by the day and even over in donnyLand. nobody knows 100% for sure what will happen. hope it does not become a distraction from the on pitch activities. but AP programme notes were interesting especially if you read between the lines. without wishing to use my fav saying, none of us shall have much longer to wait to find out.
I can't see Zamora moving North, I seem to remember when PB was trying to lure him North he wanted to say down s'th.
According to the Donny chairman the release clause is £3m and not a penny less: http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=19791&title=doncaster_confirm_sharp_release_clause
I thought the snagging point in that deal was the wages? Apparently he knew what Bullard was on and wanted more? Or was that more City Propaganda?
to quote AP in saturdays match programme notes as follows ""The week-long break since the Coventry game has given us time to focus on the forthcoming transfer window in January. The Allam family have pledged to back Nick in the transfer market should he(NB) feel the need to bring in new faces and we have been working hard behind-the -scenes to draw up a list of potential targets that we feel will improve the side."" read what you will into the last 7 words......That We Feel Will Improve The Side.!!
We wanted Charlie Austin, but wouldn't go beyond £1.2m, we wanted Craig Mackail-Smith but wouldn't pay £2m, why do people now thing it's possible that we will pay £3m for Billy Sharp?
Improved financial stability is bound to help. Sitting 4th in the league, possibly 3rd come 1st Jan may also twist Allam's arm a wee bit too. Hell, everyone is saying we need a big striker up top - we should have bid 10m for Crouch before he left Spurs
simple. imo, Austin and Machail-Smith were and are not worth the money that was paid for them. Ive always rated Sharp as a quality footballer and with NB help he could well turn Sharp into an even better one. With the league position we have now and it could be even better come Jan 3rd its time to splash some cash. The squad does not need that much extra does it.? Thats why paying 3m for B.S. is worth the risk.
If we'd found new homes for Oli, McShane, Ghilas and Kilbane and got the last of the high earners off our backs, then I'd think it was a bit more likely, I just can't see us jumping from having a £1.2m-£1.3m limit on player fees, to paying £3m for a single player. I hope I'm proved wrong, but I just don't think the Allam's like to buy at the top end.
