So we gonna get rid of heading the ball now?

I hear mike tyson is suing boxing cos he took a few blows and it made him rape someone
I'm not sure what'll they will do about it. I suppose the problem you've got is it will open up the governing body and football clubs to liability. We have known about the problem for a while now, you can also see in the wording of that article it depleted the parents life savings to pay for the pirvate care. People in the future will want someone else picking up that cost. I can see the likes of the FA saying well the guidance is out there, but that's not going to stand up I don't think if something like it ever goes to court. Guidance isn't good enough, some coaches probably don't even know what that guidance is, having said that, knowing the sporting governing bodies it will all be swept under the carpet, until someone wins a landmark case against them.

It’s right they’re restricting kids volume of heading the ball in training and obviously the ball weighs next to nothing now so they aren’t heading a ****ing medicine ball in the rain like in McQueen’s day plus just the way the game has changed to be less in the air though that’s coming back into fashion.

I do think it’s different now as the risks are clear so legally clubs/authorities are in a better place and will be prepared. Footballers should be made to sign a waiver acknowledging the risk to the brain if they don’t already and their medical care factored into their life insurance

Remember the balls when I first started as a kid in the 1960s - real leather that felt like a brick when they became sodden... no wonder Jeff Astle etc suffered damage ...

Balls now are obviously much lighter - but there still needs to be a lot of research into the effect and also the impact of getting hit in the mush etc - and fully agree with you that the Initiative re kids is a good one ...

Rugby have those mouthguards that can measure head impact and necessitate a HIA ... added advantage in football is that it might also make it more difficult for the whingey ****s to speak.. <whistle>
