Well.....we didn't expect to get anything today did we?
However, there are a few worrying things going on imo. I'll give my player ratings and hopefully those concerns will become apparent.
Cerny - 8 A couple of fantastic saves, but his kicking always worried me. Could have cleared better before the first goal.
Young - 6 Worked hard, but lost Rooney for the goal.
Gabbidon - 7 Again looked solid (although he didn't come out for the 2nd half in time and the game re-started without him!!).
Connolly - 7 Thought he did very well against such good players, especially after being out for so long.
Traore - 7 Very good going forward.
Mackie -7 Did well to get the better of Evra on a few occasions, but his final ball was awful!
Barton - 4 Terrible....AGAIN!! Completely at fault for the 2nd goal and gave the ball away time after time! Since he's tried to clean up his image he doesn't make any challenges and he doesn't have the ability to play any other way! He struts around the pitch, giving out his instructions whilst playing like a twat! Team spirit seems very poor since his arrival and I'm convinced his attitude towards the other players, thinking he's the main-man, is a big reason for this (including Adel's loss of form).
Faurlin - 6 Probably his least effective game of the season. Looked a little over-awed to me, although he did clear one off the line and was better in the 2nd half.
    SWP - 5 Very disappointing...AGAIN!!
    Bothroyd - 4 Terrible....AGAIN!!
Helguson - 6 Worked hard and won a few good headers against very good defenders.
    Subs:
    Hill - 7 Solid.
Campbell - 5 Looked (understandably) off the pace and missed a sitter.
Taarabt - 7 Worked hard when he came on and was always looking for the ball, which was encouraging! A couple of nice touches and passes and a simply sublime pass (the type of pass that Barton could only dream of being able to play) to give DJ his sitter of a chance. Enjoyed watching him play in the shirt again and he should start against Sunderland! (He won't of course!).
NW - 5 Another bewildering substitution!! Absolutely right to bring on Adel and DJ when we needed two goals and right to take off SWP. BUT...to take off HH and leave on the awful Bothroyd was simply unbelievable and the amount of booing showed what most of the crowd thought too!!<doh> He's made Barton the centre of everything and it's back-firing! Another mistake from Neil, who needs to up his game...fast!!
In conclusion......We didn't expect anything today and Utd were simply fantastic at times. The first touch of Rooney, Nani and co was breathtaking at times, whilst the terrible first touch of SWP, Barton and Bothroyd only served to highlight the gulf in class!!
Sunderland is a must win game, but I'm not at all convinced that we will win it!!
(By the way...love him or hate him, but Rooney is class!!)

Col, agree with most of it, i went a little further in my thread. I'm slowly getting worried. Did not expect much from the last two games as regards results, but was sure we would put in good performances. It was a chance for our players to show they belonged in the Prem. Give a good account of themselves. Think we are playing without any real urgency, passion or dare i say it, effort. The next two games are massive. We need min 4 Pts. But more than that we need a performance. If NW is willing to drop Adel for lack of effort (and rightly so IMO), then he must also now look at Barton and SWP for playing sh1*e. Barton has been a massive massive disappointment. I think Derry should get another run in the side. Barton's passing has been shocking and Derry does not give the ball away as cheaply. Our midfield has loads of miles on the clock with buck all to show for it in terms of creativity.

If Bothroyd starts ahead of Taarabt against Sunderland, I give up!

Cheers Col, you'll notice the 'knee jerk' thread isn't getting bumped today!;)
Wednesday is huge, hopefully we'll get a big performance.

Cerny was outstanding today, just proves some keepers get better with age, Kenny may have to fight for his place at this rate because it would be hard to drop Cerny given his last two performances

Nice thread Col,I agree with most of it,but as i have said on here before we have no creativity in midfield. If we were creating chances and missing them we would all know the answer but we create nothing and that for me is worrying.NW is also beginning to trouble me, taking off HH and leaving on Bothroyd what was that all about ??? .Last week at Liverpool playing 451,just dont get it,no creativity very little pace what did he think we were going to achieve ? its as if he thought we were going to lose and just sat back and let it happen.I know we have limited talent at the club and we need to add in January but thats no excuse for looking totally disorganised.Lets all pray we get 3 pts on Wednesday.

Morning Col, no argument from me in what you state. What bothers me is, why? I'd love to know the logic/ thinking/ psychology / blackmail behind the decisions. Did Barton come on condition he be top dog? Did Adel agree to play only because it is Man U? Why take off Heider who was doing ok and actually starting to win a few headers. We cannot know these things so we just have to endure and support and hope for a point or six over the next two games. Hope being the operative word!!

i was hoping against hope for a draw
barton needs to be rested(for the rest of the season then sold)
we did bloody well to keep it 2-0
cerny has to be first choice now.unless we expect the balls to rebound off kennys belly
how did the game restart with players missing..bet it would have been noticed if rooney was still having a poo
tarbs showed glimpses of what he could do
we need to beat sunderland and swansea to have any hope going into the second half of the season/beating arsenal would also save me some money against a gloating gooner fan.
**** it if we dont beat swansea we will never get that tosser jager off our board

Morning mate. Don't get me wrong, I will support all the players and management at each and every game. But NW is beginning to worry me a little. I agree that we can't know what is going on behind the scenes, but you can see Barton at every game, strutting around giving every one their orders and then playing ordinary himself. Being stripped of the captaincy as soon as Barton arrived must have seriously undermined Taarabt and you could see his confidence disappearing before your eyes!
I understand all of Adel's shortcomings, although I'm sure his "advisers" don't help!! My main problem is that we don't have a lot of flair in the team, especially with SWP playing so disappointingly and I really want to watch Taarabt for my money as opposed to Barton!! Adel looked really good when he came on yesterday, but I bet NW plays Bothroyd and Mackie ahead of him on Wednesday!!
