So Saturday was the pivotal game in the words of Pardew that could define where we finish this season but after the results with honours even against Bolton and Sunderland and Liverpool losing I can’t really see any change in the status of the next game.

A win against Everton is now needed to try and secure this top 10 finish as Villa and the Toffees have put a decent run together and even Stoke are threatening to our chances of achieving this momentous feat.

It was a decent overall performance against a much improved Bolton (under the tenure of Coyle) and points shared isn’t a bad result at all.

I want to hit 40 points as soon as possible and then hope that the attitude of the players is to push hard for a higher league finish.

After the Birmingham Carling Cup win the chances of a Europa league place are dwindling but it’s still worth a shot at going for it.

As I said; bring on the 40 points first and I’ll be extremely satisfied to have reached the target with games to spare.

Couldn't agree more mate, 1 point of Sunland and 3 off Liverfool who aren't looking much better for their new players.

Now Birmingham have got themselves a european spot, how far down will the Europa spots fall now?
Am I right in thinking 6th providing one of the top 4 win the FA cup?

Everton, Stoke, Wolves and Villa all coming up and we should know we're safe before entertaining Man Utd up here on 16th Apr ( so far anyway ).

I don't really think we've anything to worry about but it'll be nice to put any worries to bed. We've been playing some really good football and have just been a tad unlucky to concede late goals, with that little bit of luck we'd have been well safe already.

We are edging to the magic 40 points.

At the start of the season I said I would be happy with 17th and I stick by that.

When we do get the 40 points I would like to see the team push and not think ok we are safe job done.

I was happy with the draw against Bolton and have to say that Sturridge stand's out , he is one hell of a player.

Everton on Saturday a team that have improved and must be confident after the win against the unwashed.

    I'm going for a win .

40 points is getting closer and closer, with some winnable games coming up, I'd like to think we can be well and truly safe before Man Utd come to town. I don't think we'll reach Europe this year (especially now given that Brum won the cup) but hopefully the lads can push forward to get a top 10 finish and we'll see if the Fat Man gives us anything to strengthen in the summer. If he does, then the future may be bright.

I believe it's 6th place if the two teams in the final have both qualified for Europe. If for example it was a top 4 side vs any other team, the other team would automatically gain a place in Europe for reaching the final.

We were unlucky not to win on Saturday yet again! we have proven in recent weeks, vs Spuds, Unwashed , Arsenal and Bolton that we are in the mix with them, if only we had invested in a decent forward to convert those chances.
40 points is the first target and every game after that is an opportunity to push on, top ten is a real possibility and i would gladly settle for that!

    Top ten would be brilliant.

It would be quite funny to see Villa finish above Sunderland after all the **** the mackems spouted about Darren Bent moving to a lesser club. (yet another stick to beat them with. We have got a few this season)

Think we are in with a shout, but with Brums win yesterday it shortened the chances of europe now.
Which I don't mind, as long as the Mackems don't get it <laugh>

I feel that we can certianly do better than 15th or 16th. We've got a group of player willing to put themselves on the line for the club. Something we havent had for many years with the likes of owen, martins et.al.
I really believe that a top half finish isn't out of the question. Call me what you will. but mark these words

It's a strange season where a lot of teams have been off their usual form, it's a good time for any team to capitalise on this. I think Fulham away is our only defeat of 2011 which can only be a good thing, if we can start being more clinical and seeing games out we'll fly up the table.

I can see us winning nearly all of our remaining games, but it is equally possible for us to lose all of them. Lets just hope a win on saturday, followed by 6 more points from Stoke and Wolves, and we should be safe by the man utd game.
