Our current points/game average is 1.8; extrapolated, we would end the season on 68 points...the same number of points that Arsenal qualified with last season.

I'd argue that we will improve on their points tally as the team gel further and lady luck (bloody woodwork) eventually smiles on us........imo, we have to because I'd also suggest that 4th spot will require 70+ points this season.

Some signs in the last couple of games of others dropping points; I expect this to continue as we head into silly season, players tire, from dips and some are stripped of prize assets for the ANC.....here's hoping anyway <whistle>

Would hope that our fortune changes as well as other teams drop points. Spurs have to play Arsenal, City, Chelsea and ourselves away during the 2nd half of the season. We only have to play City and Utd away whilst the others come to Anfield...we need to capitalise on those games. they're all 6 pointers.

Agreed! Arsenal & Chelsea have the 'distraction' of CL football plus the loss of a couple of key players in January....we need 2 or more teams to suffer a dip in form to get into top 4....

First I would like to see us get 9 points from our remaining games of the first half of the season, that would put us on 38 points. Then if we can start banging in our chances we can better what we have achieved in our first 19 games. Then you would be looking at top 4.

yes 38 points at half way will stand us in good stead but think we will still need to see an improvement in our finishing to get that again in second half.

Only a small change to our finishing would be enough......It's unreal how many chances we miss really.

I was only looking at this the other day! Spurs also from here have to play Chelsea twice and Everton twice which is never guaranteed points. Chelsea have to visit us, Arsenal, Man City and Everton, not to mention the game versus Spurs next up. Arsenal are a bit like ourselves in that the second half of the season sees them at home to most of their main rivals, for instance in the 2nd half we entertain Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, and to some extent the trickier of the other teams Stoke and Everton! Things really do look very positive right now!!!!!!!!!!! It should be really exciting the run in!

An improvement on 38 points in 1 half of a season is title material.. Which kinda puts how unlucky we've been so far in to perspective

9 times out of 10 70 points would get 4th. thats a fact if you look back at the prem tabels for ten years.

(i could post here but you've got a mouse and fingers so go google it <ok> )

christmas will be vital, FA decision will be vital, spurs are in very good form now so we must match them game for game and hope to see them flater.

the reality is chelsea, arsenal, sprs and liverpool will be fighting for 2 psots and the reality is we would expect a team with the talents that chelsea have to get 75-80 points, and the same could be said for arsenal following thier run of form. However one feels if RVP gets injured that form could implode so I think now is the time.

Wednesday night we visit a resurgent wigan, cold, miserbale wednesady night, bad pitch, bad athmosphere and bad team... in previous year yuo could just put your house on us mucking this up.

    Must win game
